If your NCH software (like WavePad, MixPad, or any other from NCH suite) is not recording sound, here are some potential reasons and solutions to troubleshoot:

Check Microphone Permissions:
Ensure that your microphone is properly enabled for the software.
On Windows, go to Settings > Privacy > Microphone and make sure the app has permission to use your microphone.
On macOS, go to System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Microphone, and check if the app is allowed access.
Input Device Selection:
In the NCH software, make sure the correct input device (your microphone) is selected.
Go to the Options or Preferences menu and under Audio or Input, select your microphone as the recording device.
Audio Levels & Mute:
Ensure that the microphone isn’t muted or set at a very low volume.
Adjust the microphone level in the NCH software or via your operating system's sound settings.
Drivers and Updates:
Check if your audio drivers are up to date. Updating them can often solve recording issues.
Make sure that the NCH software itself is fully updated to the latest version.
Sample Rate Mismatch:

This was shown somewhere else on this forum. The user said to connect a bluetooth device. I did,and it worked as advertised.  To recap, ST was not detecting sound from my pc. Added a BT speaker, and bingo!
