DRM Error message

My version of switch will not convert any tracks purchased through music download services, i get the usual error message about it being corrupt or protected, i have my version of direct x, it is 9.0c

So what's the question here?

 

It would be rather pointless for the music companies to implement copy protection into the songs if any old program could convert them into other formats!
