Guest Blewyn Posted April 13, 2005 Posted April 13, 2005 Just used Switch for the first time to convert MP3 files in my collection from 320KBps to 160KBps to squeeze them all onto my IPod. It worked fine when I made the output directory different to the source, but when I tried to make the source and output directories the same in order to simply overwrite the originals, Switch processed them all extremely quickly, and when I looked at the files they were all about 8-14KB in size. When played the are still mp3 files but the have just a fraction of a second of music in them. So in a nutshell : If you convert files to the same directory having the same name, Switch wipes them completely and leaves behind a bunch of useless files. Good job it was Sting & The Police's Greates Hits ! Cheers Blewyn
nchtj Posted April 18, 2005 Posted April 18, 2005 yes we should probably prohibit that, thanks for letting us know. Remember to back files up first if you're doing something to overwrite them or modify them.
