M Glenn Mitchell Posted May 30, 2023 Posted May 30, 2023 On another program I had, there was a very useful tool that I can't find on PhotoPad. It could be called Clone paint. I would select and area then click on a separate area and then as I painted into the selected area, it replicated from the parallel area. EG if I wanted to use a shingle texture I selected the new area, clicked on the outside area I wanted to use as a clone, then "clone Painted" into the selection. Does this exist?
n1x1 Posted June 1, 2023 Posted June 1, 2023 Hi, In PhotoPad you can use the tool Clone Stamp. This tool allows you to paint one part of an image over another part. This can be used to remove scratches, blemishes, or even entire objects from a photo.
M Glenn Mitchell Posted June 1, 2023 Author Posted June 1, 2023 (edited) Thanks so much for replying.. so far so good, but I'm missing a step? It does clone but the destination needs to be selected (limited) to prevent the new paint from going beyond the edges of what is to be painted? IOW I have a gable end of a house that needs to be the same texture as the other gables but the new gable is an odd shape so need to be selected (As in Select/polygon) to prevent the source paint from going past the destination boundaries. Normally I would expect to "select/polygon" the destination boundaries, then change to the clone function and paint the selected destination from the source into the polygon area. But when I choose the clone function, the selection function disappears or if I enable the clone with the polygon present and start to paint, it ignores the polygon selection?
