Videos in video editor keeps flashing

Ok, it seems to have been corrected now. Thanks @borate

On another matter, is there a setting in NCH to export the video faster?

When I first decided to chance using NCH on this terrible laptop (I don't have access to my normal desktop) I was surprised they exported fairly fast. Well now in the last several times it's taken forever to export & sometimes I'm not even touching the computer.

A 30 min. video took almost an hour or over an hour & I never had that problem before with lower versions.

Thanks

If you're using the current 64-bit version, export speed should be good.  But all depends upon length, complexity, nature of the project files and encoder.

If you share the project, we'll run a speed comparison here.  List your export settings.

The sharing process is easy, quick and can be done privately.  Just follow these steps...

  •     Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left.  Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER.  Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER.
  •     Upload ---  Use a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* - to upload the saved, numbered FOLDER.    Do NOT upload the individual VPJ or export file.
  •     Get link --- Get a public link.  If using Google Drive click GET SHAREABLE LINK. If necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with the link can view"
  •     Share ---     Click COPY LINK | DONE.  Paste that link here, or click the folder at the top-right of this forum to message it privately to me.  It won't be shared.

          *    Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES.  Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.

At export click the Default Quality/Filesize link.  If it is set to Auto Detect it should pick up Lossless automatically, if it meets specs as it did here on your project.

Similarly, when exporting, choosing the Lossless Video button image.png will succeed only if the project meets the requirements.

Re-encoding the export (not Lossless) took 13:54.  GPU usage was over 95%.  Hardware capabilities can make a difference.

To see if yours is the 64-bit version click the 3-lined Menu (top-left of the window), then HELP | ABOUT.  The latest release.

There's no "medium" in the export choices shown above, only auto detect, lossless and off (re-encode)..

Lossless passes the content without re-encoding all or part, so it's highest quality.  Here's the comparison on your mp4, with re-encoding at the left.

If the 'about' window doesn't list "64-bit" then it's the 32-bit release.  The link above has the latest 64.

Our windows are the same.  The default file size is often best, but the choice is yours.  The lower the quality, the smaller the file.

Click the caret to the right of Lossless Export.  image.png

Leave it set to Auto Detect, to let VP decide whether Lossless is possible, or Off (re-encode) to force re-encoding, which will take longer to export.

If a new version is over-installed (no need to uninstall), the recent projects list should be intact.  It's always there.
