Saving disc space

Good morning all,

 

I can't seem to find the quick and dirty answer to this question by using the search engine.  Must not be wording it correctly. 

I sometimes find large size video clips where I only need a small portion of it for the project.  How can I make a separated clip of the small portion and discard the rest of the clip?

I have a newer computer with plenty of horsepower,  but I don't want to waste the space.

You could load a clip, isolate the section that you want, and export it.  Then us the exported result for your project.  If it's exported LOSSLESSly, no quality will be lost.
