Apply effects

i am new to this so can u please help me..............When i want to add effects, i go to the effects button at the top and all these effects scroll down but they are all greyed and i can't click on them.........How do i make it so i can add them and they turn black so i can click on them?

Most of the effects in WavePad apply only to the selected region, so you need to select a region in order to use them. To mark the selected region you can either click and hold down on the wave window and drag the mouse or press and hold down the shift key while moving in the file. To select the entire file press Ctrl+A.
