Rockyk
Created a cropped video image in a segment. Saved project, Reopened project. Cropped image back to original size, on clip preview and output. Click effects, every other effect shown and unchanged, crop totally deleted from effect chain. borate
What version of Videopad is being used? Was CROP the sole effect for the clip, or were there others? If so, what others? Not seeing that here in this release. Give it a try. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. Rockyk
I am using 11.97. The project I am working on requires a dozen plus tracks. The cropping issue I am having is coming into play it seems to be with only video clips. A typical scenario for how I am doing this is. Loading the video file to my time line. I use motion to resize and reposition, then I will use crop to neaten up the edges of the footage. To keep my resizing neatly in the area I am choosing. I will save the project and when I return. The video that was resized and repositioned and cropped is fully uncropped. But is holding the resize and positions perfectly. This saving issue is also happening on occasion when saving multiple masks to an effects chain. I will save the chain, the project, relaunch the project. The masks at the top of the chain (Just like the crops) are fully gone upon reload. These are the primary effects I use. I am uncertain if it occurs with others. The masks I typically used are to create non light areas. I am currently using the program for projection mapping purposes. I’ve done uninstalls and fresh installs of new updates and nothing seems to correct this. But I will try again. Edited August 31, 2022 by Rockyk Needed to add missed content. borate
Retested with a video file - positioned, scaled, cropped and then saved and reloaded, but couldn't duplicate the problem in v11.97. After reloading the project click the CROP header to see if the effect has held... Try this. Go to OPTIONS | MEDIA tab and in the Advanced section at the bottom, click on Default and choose None (CPU only). Restart VP. Under OPTIONS | DISK tab Clear Unused Cache Files. Restart again. If no joy, please share the project, or a portion that demonstrates the issue. The process is easy, quick and can be done privately. Just follow these steps... Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER. Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER. Upload --- Use a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* - to upload the saved, numbered FOLDER. Do NOT upload the individual VPJ or export file. Get link --- Get a public link. If using Google Drive click GET SHAREABLE LINK. If necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with the link can view" Share --- Click COPY LINK | DONE. Paste that link here, or click the folder at the top-right of this forum to message it privately to me. It won't be shared. * Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES. Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server. Then it can be seen just as you see it, for analysis. Rockyk
I will give the above mentioned a try. Fingers crossed it’s a simple fix. Thanks for the input. If it persists I will upload a segment. Thanks
borate
Checked it again just now, this time with the effected video superimposed over a blank, blue background. Reloaded, and the crop was retained...
Rockyk
Thank you for the recommendations above. I applied them and the problem seems to have resolved. I restarted my project numerous times after complete restarts of my pc and everything is holding as left. Thanks again! Fingers crossed it stays good. borate
Great! Precisely what measures did you take - enabling None (CPU only)? If so, what are your PC's specs: CPU and GPU (graphics card)?
Rockyk
I enabled none (cpu only), cleared project cache and rebooted. My pc specs are CPU - Intel Core - i3-1005G1 @ 1.20GHZ GPU - Standard Intel UHD Graphics Card 32 Gig - Ram
borate
Just to confirm that this was truly the cause, please re-enable GPU (default) and see if the problem resurfaces. Go to OPTIONS | MEDIA tab and choose the default this time. Restart Videopad. Go to OPTIONS | DISK tab and Clear Unused Cache Files. Restart VP again. Please let us know if the issue crops up again. If not, then the PC restart might have solved the issue.
Rockyk
I put everything back as you instructed. Upon reload the same exact issue presented again. I have been using VP flawlessly with None (CPU ONLY) all day with no loss to any effects.
borate
Thanks for taking the time to sleuth this. Word has it that the issue may have been fixed in version 12.00. Please give it a try with GPU enabled, if you have the time, and report back. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. Rockyk
So I fresh installed 12.00, and put everything back to default settings. So far everything is being retained when saved and reloaded. I did numerous shutdowns of VP and PC, and everything returned as left at project save. Thank you for taking the time. Fingers crossed this issue is resolved.
