Ellipse shaped mask possible?

Part 1:  What I wanted to do.

If you want a rectangular mask, you can make the proportions anything you want, from very skinny to square.

As far as I can tell for round masks, only the shape of a circle is possible.  Is there a way to make it an ellipse?

Part 2: What I tried, without success.

I tried using two overlapping circular masks, but it seems one or the other is used rather than any combination of them. Is that correct?

Part 3: What I ended up doing.

Since what I wanted the mask for was to shape a colored background of a text clip, I just created a background image with the desired shape.

Side note:

It took me quite a while to find out how to do an "inverse mask" (i.e. apply the effect to what's NOT inside the shape), and judging by the questions about that on the forum, that tiny "Mask Inside" checkbox might be more prominent, or at least mention of it made on the Tutorial page http://help.nchsoftware.com/help/en/videopad/win/effects_masking.html
