Hawksearcher
Hello, I'm trying to put together a video to showcase a new song I'm making, but when I add the audio to the video, the audio in both the preview player and an exported video sound overly compressed, squashed, or limited. Every time there's a peak in the audio, it sounds like it hits a hard wall. Essentially, the quality of the music goes way down compared to the original song file--and the original song file isn't even that large in terms of space. Is there any way to change a setting so that way the original sound quality is preserved? This is a really big deal for me since I'm a small composer trying to get noticed :). Thanks, James
borate
Your original mp3 Videopad export... Little difference in waveform or audio. What version of Videopad is being used? Upgrade to the latest. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. If that's not possible, go to OPTIONS | MEDIA tab and verify that this box is unchecked... Hawksearcher
Hello! Thank you for your response. As far as the differences between the waveforms go, the music volume levels don't sound natural due to the newly imposed compression. Currently, I am using version 10.95, how current is that? Thanks for the checkbox tip! It was checked, but after I unchecked it there was no change. I think it's because ultimately it's a compression and not a normalization issue. Update: I updated the software and that did help a little, but some automatic compression is still present.
borate
You might also listen in Wavepad - free trial. On VP or Wavepad export, you can choose higher bitrates. Here's a comparison of the original (which appears to be hard-clipped) and the Videopad preview. Though VP reduced the overall gain a tad, there's no aural difference to my ear. Original plays first, then VP preview. comparison.mp3
Hawksearcher
Ah ok, thank you! I think I'll look into using Wavepad too then :).
