Video track with image not exported

I have the following problem:

I want to add a logo to my video that should be displayed in the right bottom corner. I have set up everything working in the program preview, but when I export the video, the logo is not displayed.

This is what I have done:

1.    Added the logo as a .png file with background transparency to the ‘image’ tab.

2.    Added the logo file as a new video track #3 (Track #2 is a text clip, that is working fine).

3.    Configured the ‘motion’ effect of the new track #3: Scale 0.33, Base X 60, Base Y 90. That way, the logo is displayed small in the bottom right corner.

4.    Made sure that ‘Show track on output’ in the track’s context menu is checked.

Now when displaying the video within NCH VideoPad, the logo is shown correctly. When exporting as .MP4 with default settings, the logo is missing.

Hi I Using VP 10.56

  • Place main video on Track 1
  • Place transparent background png logo on Track 2.
  • Use Scale effect to reduce it to required size
  • Use Position effect to move it to required position. (Using dual displays is useful here) Note order of adding effects.
  • Check Sequence preview plays as expected
  • Export as mp4 video.

Normally nothing else is required. The png goes on the highest track if you have used several for your video.

Here a "magnifying glass" png is added to bottom right of exported mp4.......as seen in VLC

If the issue persists, please share your project.  Someone will take a look and come up with a fix.  The process is easy, quick and can be done privately.  Just follow these steps...

  •     Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left.  Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER.  Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER.
  •     Upload ---  Use a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* - to upload the saved, numbered FOLDER.    Do NOT upload the individual VPJ or export file.
  •     Get link --- Get a public link.  If using Google Drive click GET SHAREABLE LINK. If necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with the link can view"
  •     Share ---     Click COPY LINK | DONE.  Paste that link here, or click the folder at the top-right of this forum to message it privately to me.  It won't be shared.

          *    Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES.  Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.

Thanks for the help, guys. This is how I managed to make it work: Instead of using the ‘motion’ effect with parameters Scale 0.33, Base X 60, Base Y 90 I had to use the ‘scale’ effect with the completely different parameters Hor.Ratio 0.08, Vert.Ratio 0.08, X Base 24, Y Base 100 and then I deleted the ‘motion’ effect. So when I use the former ‘motion’ effect, the logo will show correct in the program, but not in the export. When I use the ‘scale’ effect with different parameters instead, the export is ok! But in the program the logo is hardly visible (much too small) and misplaced (like a bit of dirt near the center of the video). Ok, I can live with it, but it seems to me to be a bug.

Click OPTIONS | DISPLAY tab and enable Show Dual Previews.  Then the sequence preview window will display where the overlay will be placed.

What version of Videopad is being used?  Share the project, as instructed above, and someone will take a look to see if what you describe is truly a bug.

You can also test this beta version.  For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date.  After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest.  Retain your old install file and registration info.
