MartyM
Hello.....I like to edit songs or soundbites from large podcasts, so I TRIM the beginning and end of my podcast, leaving only the selected file then Save File As and place it in it's chosen folder. In the past, after doing this, I would simply click on the UNDO button a couple of times then I'm back to my full podcast to choose another file to save. I purchased the latest edition of WavePad Sound Editor and I can no longer use the UNDO button after saving, it is dark. Can anyone help with this ? The UNDO button is active right up to the moment I SAVE my file. Thanks.

Kevin S
Hi Marty - just wondering if you ever found a work around for this issue, I've been frustrated by this as well. Thanks, Kevin
Simon L
Hi, It is actually by design since the file you are editing after "Save As" is a 'new' file. You can reload the original file edit it differently since any changes to it was not saved.
Kevin S
Thanks Simon - It's too bad, sometimes I have a big file that I trim into smaller .mp3's, but I'd like to be able to 'undo' after I save so that my edit point will be exactly the same. Oh well...

Oh well... One work around is to Save your edits as a separate file instead of overwriting the original. That way, you can always go back as needed. You could name your files as 'Edit1', 'Normalize1', Cut1', or something like that.
Kevin S
Thanks - I appreciate the help. However - I think that is what I am doing, but as soon as I 'save as' it loads that new file and deletes the other one. Am I doing something wrong? Kevin S
I think I figured out my work flow if anyone is following along or interested: Before I do my trim or edit I just make a duplicate, then after I edit and save my new file the original still exists and my cursor is still on the edit point. A few extra steps, but at least it works!
vapors
Just following along...but happy to see you have some rational solution.

I'm sure some of the experts on this forum will have some good advice for you. In the meantime, you might want to try using the Undo History feature in WavePad Sound Editor. It's a great way to track and review changes that you've made, and it should help you with the issue you're experiencing. Good luck!
