How to create boundaries and patio areas for landscaping - new user

I'm a new user and just purchased DreamPlan. I am frustrated in that I am trying to lay out a backyard garden but cannot draw boundaries and find it very hard do other drawings within the boundary.

So firstly, and this I can probably start with is HOW TO DRAW A BOUNDARY OF A BACKYARD.

If anybody can please help a frustrated first time user that would be very much appreciated
