Wavepad changes date tags without telling you

I switched from using Roxio audio editor because of the superior abilities of WavePad, but I have just discovered a serious bug in WavePad regarding date audio tags. The problem is that WavePad seems incapable of handling Year Date Tags prior to 1969. Anything before that -- like the years of the Big Band era that I entered on many tracks -- is converted to 1969 when you close the audio tag edit window. Then, when you actually save the file, WavePad changes 1969 to the current year-month-day. I don't think I'm doing anything wrong here since I can set the year tag in Roxio and have it come out correctly in the saved file back to the 1930s at least.  It's annoying when a program arbitrarily changes the value of a set field without informing the user.
