Timestamp showing current time

Hi there, I'm new to the software, but not new to transcription.  I'm attempting to set up shortcut keys to enter the timestamp of the recording time.  I'm wanting this format [0:00:00].  The shortcut keys are working, but the timestamp inserted is the CURRENT time, not the recording time!  Also, I've assigned the square brackets to prefix and suffix, but they are not being picked up.  Any clues anyone?  Thanks in advance.
