Newbie needs help.

Please can someone help? I am new to digital music writing & especially using vst plugins. I am getting into crescendo, but now I'd like to start expanding my cataloge of sounds, my friend has recommended Komplete Kontrol, but before I start spending, Ibsee there is a free version Komplete start. Before I download anything, will it be compatable with Crescendo? I am looking forward to getting my ideas down in the way I hear them in my head.

NI's Kontakt (VST plugin version) should be compatible, but please note that you will still need to install libraries to your Kontakt Player in order to load and produce sounds with Kontakt.
