New user of express scribe

I'm a new user to express scribe. I cannot hear anything from the audio CD drive. I just have a CD to do transcription from. How do I get the express scribe to coordinate with the audio CD so I can get started????

can you play audio cds through windows media player?

 

is the CD a proper audio cd? (are the files in cda format or in some other format?)
