Exported video keeps freezing in consistent place

Creating 1 video out of 3 videos, I've trimmed it how i want, it plays in the preview, but after exporting, right around halfway the video freezes but the audio continues. i see SEVERAL others with this same issue, nothing is wrong with the frame rate or resolution, or my computer.

Please email me an update or fix to this more than 3yo problem or I'm going to use another program. I'm sorry, it's too frustrating trying to sit there patiently exporting an hour video several times only to experience the same issue.

You know what you're doing? Holding back my business.

As export fail can result from a number of things, your freeze may not be the same as that experienced by others.  To track it down, please answer a few questions...

What version of VP is being used?  Try the latest.  For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date.  After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest.  Retain your old install file and registration info.

What is the resolution of the bulk of the source files - HD, 2K, 4K?

Is this a one-hour project?

What are your PC's specs:  GPU, CPU, free space on the C:\ drive and type of drive?

What are your export settings?

If you take a few minutes to upload and share your work, folks here will help solve the issue.  The process is easy, quick and can be private.  Just follow these steps...

1.  With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left.  Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER.  Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER.
2.  Locate the saved, numbered folder and upload it to a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.*  (Don't upload the export file or only the VPJ.)
3.  Get a shared, public link. If using Google Drive click GET SHAREABLE LINK. Click the blue "Change to anyone with the link..."  Then click COPY LINK | DONE.
4.  Paste that link here, or click the folder, above top-right in this forum, and message it to me.  This is private and won't be shared.
*    Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES.  Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.

I'm in need of urgent help. I've done a video for my mum's 70th birthday to use tonight and it is sticking too. I need it finished and working in the next two hours.

I have also tried cutting the video only section from where it freezes into a separate file to then export as an mp4. My plan was then to try importing that insert into the main video. But that shortened file is now not exporting. Instead the download box starts then in a split second says it has downloaded. When you click on the file all I have is a one second click audio file.

PS I have paid for the subscription version if that helps.

Please help!

Be sure to Save the project.  Save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves.  Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite.  Then you can restore a project to the state it was in when saved.  Just double-click the VPJ file (which isn't playable).

Install the latest version.   Whether you have paid or not has no bearing on the issue.

If that doesn't help, quickly upload and share your project and someone will take a look and perhaps make a fix.  Just follow these simple steps.

Thanks for the quick reply. How do I know if it is the latest version? I subscribed to it this morning so I assume it must be the latest version?

I'm sorry, it is a personal video for my mum's 70th which I would prefer not to share on a public platform for obvious security reasons.

It won't be seen by anyone but me, and won't be shared.  Upload the video, make the link shareable (public, which doesn't mean that others can see it) and send the link to me in a Personal Message.  Click the mail folder at the top of this forum and locate my account - "borate."

I may have just worked it out. The video is made up of clips of people wishing happy birthday that were sent to me. I've just discovered the clips that followed the 2 points where it froze were Quicktime files. All the others were MP4s. I've converted the first Quicktime file into an MP4 and that part doesn't freeze now. Hoping the same will happen once I've done the second one. Hope that helps others who might have similar issues.

That's best.  We'll crank out something usable or advise on what the issue is.  Be sure that you have the full, complete project on the timeline prior to creating the back-up folder.  Then upload that folder, not simply the VPJ file, to the server and proceed from there.

Resolved via a private message.

  • borate changed the title to Exported video keeps freezing in consistent place
  • 5 months later...

glaw5, you do the right thing not sharing this personal data on the internet so that anyone can see it. Cybersecurity is still on a low level nowadays( Of course there are some security systems that can help protect your data, like fingerprint/face recognition and they work, but not everywhere on the internet. I love reading articles about some new programs/software that are connected with security, like this one https://recfaces.com/articles/face-search.
