Mixed up Audio

Hi guys

I'm new to Video Pad and all its features as well as to the forum. Please point me in the right direction if this question has already been asked.

I just finished adding all my clips to the timeline when I noticed that some of my clips now show what looks like a solid bar instead of the sound waves. When you play that clip on the timeline it has no audio.

Also, the rest of the sound waves have been mixed up so the sound from one clip will be playing along with a different clip.

Has anyone experienced this? How can I correct it?

This is the second time that I've done the project over. The same thing happened with the first project too so I started over.

Any tips will be appreciated!

Unusual.  You should never have to redo a project.  Save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves.  Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite.  Then you can restore a project to the state it was in when saved.  Just double-click the VPJ file (which isn't playable).

Update to the latest version.  For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date.  After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest.  Retain your old install file and registration info.

If this doesn't straighten things out, please share your project others can see it just as you do.  Issues can often be solved quickly.  Sharing isn't difficult, takes little time and can be private.  Just follow these four steps...

1.  With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left.  Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER.  Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER.
2.  Locate the saved, numbered folder and upload it to a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.*  (Don't upload the export file or only the VPJ.)
3.  Get a shared, public link. If using Google Drive click GET SHAREABLE LINK. Click the blue "Change to anyone with the link..."  Then click COPY LINK | DONE.
4.  Paste that link here, or click the folder, above top-right in this forum, and message it to me.  This is private and won't be shared.
*    Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES.  Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.

Hi

From your description this is a bit odd. What type of clip(s)  are you using?

"......Also, the rest of the sound waves have been mixed up so the sound from one clip will be playing along with a different clip. ..."

Each clip would usually have its own attached sound and this being so,  sound from one clip would not play with a different clip. It seems therefore that you may have unlinked the sound track somehow and moved the audio  along the track although any unlinked clips that now have no sound would not show anything on the audio track least of all a "solid bar" You may also have perhaps unlinked the sound track and added in (inserted) somewhere some images. This would produce a gap in the audio which you may have closed so shifting the sound to the left so sound from one clip would possibly play with a different clip These are just scenarios that could produce the effect somewhat like you are seeing. Without examining  your actual project it's difficult so say.

Is this solid bar just a thin blue horizontal line?

OK...Save the Project As.  so at least you can reconstruct your work as far as you have it.

Run a check as follows...Close VP and reopen it and load  just  the clip that seems to show the solid bar. Has it still got a "solid bar" or does it show a normal waveform and play correctly.

Add further clips/images from your project to this one if it looks OK and check each time that they are all contiguous and they play (preview) correctly in the order of placement.

Report back with what you find.

Nat
