Split screen help

Trying to find a "how to" to do  3 parts plus. Some with different instruments and some with one voice showing 3 parts or more.. Can anyone point me in the right direction please? The tricky bit will be aligning them with the soundtracks in the right place. Have already managed it with video, unlinking video sound  to align prerecorded in place but not sure how that will work will several parts...

Each 'part' occupies its own track and can be dragged left or right to sync.  To avoid disturbing other tracks, they can be locked:  right-click in the area to the left of the track - LOCK TRACK.  Often a good idea for the main audio track.

This thread should provide more insight...  http://nch.invisionzone.com/topic/30975-virtual-choirdiana/?tab=comments#comment-81597

Hi

Yes. Check out the link but in brief.

  • Decide how you want to set out your parts. Let's say one part in each corner. That means a grid of 2 x 2.
  • Place each clip on a separate track, one above the other and line them up so they singing in synch.
  • Click the FX for Track 1 and add a Split screen effect.
  • Choose a grid of 2x2 and select the box where Singer 1 is to go. (Your going to have a singer in each corner)
  • Adjust the bias values and scale so the subject is positioned in the box.
  • Repeat these steps for Track 2; Track 3 and Track 4 selecting a different corner for each subject.
  • Split all tracks near the start and delete all the bits to the left.
  • Close the gaps. This will give "straight" starting point for all the clips

When you play the sequence all the singers will sing together in their respective corners.

That's the basics to get you started.

If you want to get players to appear and "join in" you can split any track in two places and delete the video section between them and mute the audio section.( It's a good idea to group the audio tracks). They, and their voice will disappear from the playback. All effects can be applied to the tracks so each can be faded in/out etc. You will have to experiment and use your imagination (and frequently Save Project As) Try different grids, animations and effects.  You're not forced to use the grids, you could scale each clip and Position them anywhere on the screen. Try some tracks without any grid , scale it down and make it rotate into view over the other singers. You can mix different grids between tracks. etc .etc........
