VAL files?

Has anyone heard of a VAL file?

Heres the thing. I am using a digital voice recorder for school that I can download onto my computer. The problem: There is no way to transfer the wav. file to a burner. All I can do (it seems) is to copy the file and transfer it out of the recorders program and onto anything, like my desktop. Now, when I do that, it has converted the wav. file into a val. file.

When I try to burn a cd of my digital recording all I get is a data file.

Any Ideas?

Thanks.

haven't heard of the format before...but then there are as many formats in existence as there are stars in the sky....

when you burned the cd, it seems like you were burning in data mode and not audio cd mode, what happens when you burn in audio mode?
