Peter Robinson
Been using Videopad for a few months no problems. I recently installed an update (V7.51) and now it has become unusable. The power usage in Task Manager shows Very High. The picture freezes every few seconds and the controls are unresponsive. I'm using windows 10. 64 bit. borate
Not seen here, using the same operating system. What are the specs of your system: GPU, CPU, RAM, free space on the C:\ drive? Save your project. Then Clear Unused Cache Files, under OPTIONS|DISK tab. Reload the current project. You can revert to the earlier version if necessary. The installer is normally found in this path... "C:\Program Files (x86)\NCH Software\VideoPad" And you might test this version.
Peter Robinson
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-9400 CPU @ 2.90GHz Memory: 8Gb Disc Space. 197Gb free of 1Tb Having said that, I've just tried editing another file and it works as normal. 😃 I'll try again with the former file and do a few experiments as per your directions. Later...................... I did a few more exports successfully and updated to v7.53. However it is still behaving badly. Crashed 4 times last night at the conclusion of a export, leaving me with a unplayable file. It also seems to take an extraordinarily long time to complete this task. And a long time to load the source file. I am presently exporting a 90min film in HD. Been going half-an-hour and it's only reached 20%. All I am trying to do is trim a few bits - nothing fancy. 😕
borate
VideoPad has been known to crash due to problems with older graphics card drivers. If you are experiencing frequent crashes then you should download and install the latest drivers for your graphics hardware and update to the latest version of DirectX. It's often best when they use the default, and match the source resolution. Upload your project or perhaps a segment that has the issue and share it here. Someone will have a look. It's not difficult. Here's how... http://nch.invisionzone.com/topic/23659-tips-for-getting-help-on-this-forum/ If it contains sensitive material you can link it in a personal message (PM) to me, via the envelope above. Be sure to FILE|SAVE PORTABLE PROJECT AS, not simply SAVE PROJECT, and don't forget to share it.
