Removing background music from Audio?

Hi all, I was wondering if there was a way that I could tweak an audio file (song) in a way where I can remove the background music and leave JUST the actual words they're singing? I split parts of the song to make my video shorter, but they both have a certain aspect that I want, so I want to take the background music out of the one where I just want the words so that it doesn't echo so much and sound messy. Any help is appreciated! *I put this in the WavePad forum as well.*
