Downloaded WavePad Master's Edition Trial version 2.01

Windows 98SE

Enough HDD space, Memory, Processing Power, etc...

Help file / Online docs do not mention any limitation of the below mentioned.

I was able to splice together sections of two different .wav files (cut/paste).

Saved the file. Opened the new file. Added the following Effects:

SPEED & PITCH CHANGE

- Speed/Pitch Adjust (%) = 110

- ok

Then SAVE FILE AS...- Select WAV File Format = 56 KB/s, 24,000 Hz, Stereo 7 KB/s

When I select OK, the Whole application CRASHES.

This Program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor. [

(I'm nice enough to actually do this for you; you're welcome)

We have tested this on our win98 machines and it works fine. Have you tried to select another wav format settings? Does it work?

If anyone has a similar problem like this especially in windows 98, please feel free to contact us.

Of course I tried to select another .wav format setting. And no, it doesn't work.

The same error also produces [most] of the time when I just make simple

changes [delete or add]. Currently, I'm not sure how I was able to save the spliced .wav file, since the application constanly crashes on me.

I had read a post in the forums here that was similar to mine -

when I try to save the altered .wav file and the error produces - it also

Destroys the .wav file so it is totaly useless. Fortunately, I'm no novice and

I create copies of the .wav files I attempt to alter - so I still have the originals.

The error above mentioned isn't limited to that one Effect. It crashes

(FOR ME, ON MY SYSTEM, FOR WHATERVER THE REASON) for other Effects

and No Effects alike.

there are a number of problems with the MP3 wave codec that comes with Windows, it is not a very good codec.

Please download the LAME ACM codec here:

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/LAME_ACM_Codec.htm

and install this. You will get better results from this codec.

Downloaded the LAME ACM codec you suggested. Clicked on the file to install.

Nothing happens. Assuming it installed, I rebooted and tried WavePad again.

Same results. It even crashes right after I select Save As... -

before I even attempt to compile.

So I decided to download K-Lite codec pack 2.61 Basic.

It actually had an install .exe that displayed progress, and

prompted me to install the latest DirectX, which I decided not

to update.

The program still crashes.

Its okay, I managed to create the .wav file I needed.

I'll just uninstall it now. Thanks.

For those of you who can use this application successfully,

it does appear to be nice.

p.s. Hope some of the info I provided can be used to further better

your product. Maybe you should include the codec, if window's codec

are considered to have a 'number of problems'.
