How to backup Music files and Photos to Mac without iTunes?

Hey, so long story short, I've searched and not been able to find anything on this forum that answers my question: is there any way to transfer music and photos to a stock (not JB) iPad without using iTunes? My home Mac was lost due to water damage and I dont have another computer nearby that I can get iTunes loaded onto. I cant get my music on here...and please dont tell me to install Pandora or Slacker, or to email the songs to myself. I wont always be near Wifi, and to email 3gb of music would take an eternity. Please please tell me theres some hidden trick or app that I can download.
