Terrible sound

I've downloaded the free 14 day version of VideoPad. I'm attempting to work with a video that I took last night at a Christmas Eve choir service with my Zoom video recorder. The video played fine when played on my computer (it's in .mov format) and the sound was fine. However, when I uploaded it into VideoPad, the video itself was fine, however the "sound" (if you want to call it that) sounded like a TV tuned to a non-broadcasting station (the snowy picture on the TV with the accompanying "noise"). Obviously, if this can't be resolved, I'll just look into another video editing program. Any help would be appreciated.
