Problem using enter key

When typing in a word processor program and using Express Scribe, it will not let me use the enter key to make a new paragraph. It continues to keep the typing in a run-on format. If I shut down Express Scribe, I can use the enter key for new paragraphs. Has anyone else had this problem and if so what can be done about it? Thanks

The Enter key may be set as a Hot Key in Express Scribe. Go to "Settings -> Control" and check the System-Wide Hot Key Assignments.
