simonbrew 0
Hi - i hope this is the right place to ask this question: I have HP desktop DC7100 ultra-slim model PN286ET with Compaq CRN-8245B CD reader & Xp Pro/SP3. Windows can read all data CDs and Win Media Player can play all audio CDs and transfer tracks to WMP library etc without any problems. I installed Express ripper to rip some tracks from my audio CD collection to MP3 format, but Ripper s/w cannot see any tracks on any audio cd I load - It's as if the CD is not there, but without any error message. I have updated all relevant drivers, BIOS etc to no effect. I have IBM laptop with CD reader/writer & same s/w setup with Express ripper, and everything works fine with the same audio CDs, so what's the problem, and more important, how do I fix it? Grateful for any help... Since first posting this problem on 2009-09-16, I have found some web references to needing ASPI drivers, whatever they are. Maybe Express rip s/w only works with CD readers which use ASPI drivers (perhaps like IBM, but not like Compaq)? I've also found other ripper s/w (Audiograbber) on TUCOWS shareware site which works fine on my desktop, so I guess I'll have to switch to using that.
