adding text to a photo

Hello, when I add text to an image in PhotoPad Image Editor, why doesn't it replace the number, like say DSCF6831.jpg?

I selected save and quit and checked the box for 'replace existing images' so why do I still have the DSCF6831.jpg on all the pics that I renamed?

I really don't wanto go and remane all the ones that I thought I just did.

and if I did save and quit and replace, where are they? where did they go?

when I look at the pics the text is in the pic but not replacing the number in sequence.

what's up with that?

or am I mistaken about the whole save thing?
