Calls to/from external lines hangs up quickly

Hello everybody.

My target is to implement a low-cost pbx system using USB phones for extensions and (up to 4) voice modems to connect PSTN lines.

I just installed Axon v.2.04 trial on a PC having a voice modem.

Installation was successful, the modem was recognized as an external line (in the "Land Line" list)

The default setup with Internal "Carousel FXO Gateway" seems to be ok.

The problem that i'm facing is that the connection with the external line hangs up immediately after it has been established.

When i dial an external number from an extension i can hear the modem dialing the number and hanging up immediately.

When i receive a call from the landline, the extension phone rings a few times, the modem answers the call and than hangs up.

Here is the test platform i used:

The Axon machine:

- AMD Athlon, 1.5 Ghz, 256 MB of RAM, Win XP SP2

- Axon v.2.04 trial (10 more days to play with all features)

- Intel® 536EP Modem (manufacturer: Wayjet)

I tested the modem with Voice Modem Tester from http://www.orangeview.net/voicemodem/

Another machine in the same LAN:

- 3CX VoIP phone software, used as extension.

Below are portions of Axon log during the testing of an incoming and outgoing call respectively:

12:11:50 Incoming Call from: unknown on Line: Intel® 536EP Modem

12:11:50 Dialing number: Carousel

12:11:50 Initiated sip call to: Carousel

12:11:50 Call sip:9Carousel@localhost -> 701

12:11:50 Call answered

12:11:53 Joining Lines...

12:11:54 Call from Line to Carousel bridged successfully

12:11:54 Call has disconnected

12:11:54 Call sip:9Carousel@localhost -> 701 disconnected

13:25:42 Call 101 -> sip:80722296500@192.168.227.151:5060

13:25:42 Incoming Call from: Carousel on Line: Carousel

13:25:42 Dialing number: 0722296500

13:25:42 Incoming SIP call

13:25:47 Answering call...

13:25:47 Call 101 -> sip:80722296500@192.168.227.151:5060 answered

13:25:47 Joining Lines...

13:25:47 Call from Line 0722296500 to bridged successfully

13:25:47 Call has disconnected

13:25:47 Call 101 -> sip:80722296500@192.168.227.151:5060 disconnected

Considering that nowadays everybody is trying to cut costs by all means, such a solution could be interesting.

So, i would appreciate any information that could help me in my test project.

P.S. By the way, i succeed to do incoming/outgoing calls using Uplink as external line, instead of Carousel with modem. It all works fine !

And it would be pitty not being able o make a pbx that can talk with local numbers on PSTN lines, and with long-distance through Skype.

I think that you need to turn off wait for dial tone in modem properties.

I have a similar problem, but on calls between two extensions.

I have installed Axon Virtual PBX on my system running Windows XP Professional, SP3 with .NET 4.0. I have registered two Androiod smartphone as extensions, by installing CSipSimple on the phones.

I am able to make calls to and from the extensions, but the calls only last for 6-8 secs, while the PBX panel shows the following message, 'Destination of message from user (extension number)@(IP address) cannot be determined'. The extensions also show as offline in the System Status.

I have tried disconnecting and re-registering the extensions and restarting the Axon PBX software, but to no avail.

How can this problem be rectified?

Hi

this is odd, almost more than 7 years for this problem and no answer from community, I tries a us robotic, an smartlink and 2 zoltrix modems with 3 PCs and had the same problem with droping incoming calls and not making outgoing calls which I believe the application cant afford outgoing calls with voice modems.

so let me focus on incoming calls which suppose to be working but it drops the call after almost 2 rings and if you answer it will drop immediately.

any solution to this ?
