BAM
Okay, I'm wanting to format my video (origionally .mov) to .wmv but every time I do so, its got HUGE pixels and looks terrible. It is great in .avi but I need .wmv to play it on windows movie maker. (which keeps recognizing my .avi files as only audio ) Sooo, I made the video smaller, still bad, changed the frame rate, still bad. But not sure what the frame rate should be, really. I've done 30 and 60. Any help??

ruudboek
21 views and still no answer?? Please people!! Can no one help?? If you convert a video format, quality loss is inevitable. Why would you want to use windows movie maker to play it? Why don't you use a decent media player that is able to play mov files properly, like quicktime or KMPlayer or Gomplayer in combination with the quicktime alternative directshow codecs? Why don't you use VideoPad instead of windows movie maker to edit that .mov file and then save the result in the .mov format (without conversion)? BAM
I do use videopad, to convert. And I can do cuts and fades with it, but the text part is way too small to see to be worth using, and it doesn't have other effects that WMM does. Apparently I need to just find another program to convert my .mov files so I can use WMM. I like video pad but the conversion is terrible. And I want more choices on effects and such. Thanks for trying to help.

Stay tuned though, maybe the next version, which i am very much looking forward to, will have more effects and transitions.

Kreelor
Because I want to use it to edit my videos. And The quality loss of this is TERRIBLE, not acceptable at all. It has HUGE pixels in it. I am having the exact same problem with Prism. It does not convert .avi to .wmv and look anything like the original .avi file does when played back. A .wmv file should play properly in Window Media Player, since that's what it's designed to do. Therefore, something is wrong with Prism's conversion process. At least, that's my guess! It makes me wonder why NCH doesn't address this very important issue. They advertise Prism as a converter to .wmv, but they don't tell anyone how to do it so that the result is worth watching. My original .avi file plays beautifully with my VLC player. But, when the .avi file is converted to .wmv (by Prism), it doesn't play well in VLC player either. I wish I could help you. I can't even get help myself. Heh heh.
blob
Have you tried setting the option "Use FFMPEG first" ? (Press Prism's Options button, see the middle tab "Conversions" and the tick box is at the bottom) That made a big positive difference in my early experiments with Prism.
