always detecting answering machine with outgoing calls

I want to purchase a license, but I am having a problem with the trial version. I am using it as an auto dialer to play a message to members of a non profit organization. I am using a VOIP connection, and every time it dials out, there is a several second pause before the recording is played. The log shows that it detected an answering machine. I am using the default timing settings, and I even tried tweaking them a bit, but it didn't help. Any suggestions?
