Guest ForumMember
Could someone help me with this question that I have? Does all codecs support bidirectional fromat conversion? ie. If you can convert from Format A to Format B is the reverse always true (ie. you can convert from Format B to Format A). So for example if you can convert from 44k PCM to 22K ADPCM using a particular codec then can it be assumed that the same codec can be used to convert 22K ADPCM to a 44K PCM. Thanks in advance. nchtj
only if the software you are using supports reading+writing to both formats.
Guest ForumMember
Thanks for the quick reply. Actually I am not using any software. What I am doing is using ACM (Audio Compression Manager) API to do the conversion. ACM uses the available CODECs installed to perform format conversion. I am just dealing with preinstalled CODECs on Windows like ADPCM, DSP Truespeech, A-Law, U-Law. So my question is can these CODECs perform bidirectional format conversion.
