I was having the same problem. I finally found a way to make it work. I selected "Tools", and then "Options" and then the "Audio" tab. Under Sound Play Device, I selected my headphones from the drop down menu, and now it works. I hope this works for you too. I kept looking under the Playback tab, which made more sense to me.
