  1. I had emailed the very helpful people at synway and they sent me an .ini file for north america. I replaced it with the old file, restarted and it worked great.

Hello Scottsev, can you post the contents of this ini file here anmd give us any instructions on how to use it?

    That would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

  2. I've tested this using SIP and it does indicate that IVM is off, but the call is answered anyway (with the appropriate increased number of rings).

We've also tested this with a telephony board and it has a similar result... IVM reports it is off, but will still answer the call appropriately. The "[Not Answered, IVM answering mode is off]" can be ignored in this scenario. The developers are now aware of this issue and will hopefully fix the false message, but as I said the functionality is still there and working without any issues.

Are you able to post a log of what happens on your end?

Update: Version 4.05 of IVM no longer falsely reports IVM as being off.

Thank you checking into this. I tested it again with a bell phone line and it also did answer if you wait longer as you said. :D

  3. Thank you. I will try it.

    Just an update on this.

I worked with the registration support and since I had problems with the basic features of the product, they updated my license so that I could use the product as it was meant to be used. :)

Now that I have a fully functioning version again, I remebered what a great product this can be! Thank you for help nchto!

  4. Through our registration support page (www.nch.com.au/support/reg.html) there is a link that directs you to our contact support page: www.nch.com.au/support/regcontact.html. Simply just say that you purchased v4.02 and found an issue with it. You tried sorting through this issue by going to the forums for help. They suggested that it was fixed in v4.04 and that you should use this version. Insure you include your current registration details (Name, Location, ID, Key) as these will be needed to issue a new license.

Thank you. I will try it.

  5. You will need to go through our registration support system. Explain your case clearly and nicely. Our support staff didn't write the software, but they are able to help you with licensing issues.

You could also just install v4.02 again :)

I understand that the support staff didn't write the software. Unfortunately, I haven't seen any other way to connect to someone in your company. I can't find an 800 number. I tried E-mail but they won't respond because I didn't pay the extra cost for support so this forum seems to me the only way to communicate with the company.

As you can clearly sense, I am very frustrated with this product and this company. After spending $600+ for the software and CAHTA board, I do not have a piece of software that will answer my phone and send me an E-mail (version 4.02 has an bug in the E-mail system). I am still running 4.02 because it is the version that comes closest to working properly.

This is not meant as a personal attack on anyone, I'm sorry you took it that way. I just want something that works as advertised. If you had spent $600 on a TV and could only get 30 channels, then waited 6 months for a fix, and then were told it would cost you more to get the other channels, you would be pretty upset too.

How can I get to this "registration support system" and what do you suggest I say to them?

    Thank you

  6. Version 4.04 of IVM has been released, I believe this should fix the problems you have been experiencing.

Hi, I tested 4.04 yesterday and it seemed to fix the issue of this hang up just like ti did in version 4.02. However, my license is not valid for this new release and they want ME to pay to fix the problem THEY caused in version 4.03.

Come on guys. You made a mistake. It happens. Now, do the right thing and release a free fix to the problem.

All I want to do is to be able to use the product as it was advertised. Nothing more.

    Please help

  7. Trying to get the CAHTA SHT-2B/USB to work with IVM.

Finally got the drivers installed in Vista. Had some repeated crashes of the IVM background service but these seem to have (temporarily?) abated.

Now I have a strange problem:

The call picks up, then hangs up 0-3 seconds later UNLESS I talk for a while over the top of the outgoing message. If I don't talk, it incorrectly says "Remote party has gone on hook".

Incoming line is a BT PSTN line. Have tried various combos of end-of-call detection settings in IVM but to no avail.

IVM 4.03 with Synway drivers 4.8.0.1.

(PS I do have to say that this is not sufficiently stable to be a released product - it was advertised to work and I expected a professional product which just worked - it is taking hours and hours and hours of messing around to get it up and running with IVM. It's only an answering machine!)

Hi SP0, this is a problem with IVM version 4.03 and the CAHTA USB devices (maybe others too. - not sure). Personally, I have reverted back to an older version (4.02) of IVM which works OK but the E-mail doesn't work very well in this version. You can see more of a discussion on this topic here: http://nch.invisionzone.com/index.php?showtopic=7271

As you can see from the posts, PALabs has contacted support and they said they would fix it in the next version but nody from NCH has commented on this issue in these forums (as far as I have seen anyway).

If there is anyone from NCH montioring this forum, can you please tell us when this will be fixed and how top get the fix?

    Thank you

  8. Arjen, I am also using the CAHTA SHT4B/USB 4 and version 4.03 - same problem here. Where did you find version 4.02 ? I could not find it anywhere but I sure would like to try it. Thanks, Clemens

Hi PALabs, I already had a copy since IVM v4.02 was the current version when I first started using the software. I looked around the internet to direct you to a place to download it but could not find a file that was the same size as my version 4.02. Therefore, I just don't trust the contents of these files.

What I will do is make my FTP server available with my copy v4.02 at ftp://tvk.homeip.net:53003/ (anonymous login) for about 24 hours. After that I am going on vacation and don't like to leave this server available to the internet. Please do your best to download in this time. If you do not get in time, I will make it available again in about two weeks when I return.

In the meantime, Arjen9999, do you have a better place to download v4.02 from?

BTW, PALabs, I had the same result with callers with background noise. as long as there is some type of noise (or sound) in the first couple of seconds, the rest of the call would work perfectly.

I'm glad to hear you placed a support request as I don't believe the NCH folks are montioring this thread. Please let us know if you get any resolution from the NCH folks. Thanks

  9. Hello, I've been using IVM (now v 4.03) as a basic IVR with one voice modem and four mailboxes for about 6 months now and have found it performed pretty well. Recently, I tried to add the feature of "AutoHours" to increase the number of rings outside the standard hours to 5 (versus 3 during regular hours) and found it didn't work as expected. When I selected the "Increase number of rings to .... 5", IVM stooped answering calls (outside the regular hours). IVM gwould give the message:

AOpen FM56-PLX Controllerless PCI Modem Unknown [Not Answered, IVM answering mode is off]

I tired the other modes of autohours and they seemed to work. More specifically, I tired three scenerios with Autohours are here are the results: ....

Hello, just wanted to update this one.

I have since installed a CAHTA SHT 4B/USB but I still have the same problem. It seems that Autohours turn IVM answering mode off when trying to extend the number of rings after hours.

    Please help ...... Thank you

  10. I'm having the exactly the same problems with version 4.03.

Still hoping for a fix.... :)

    Arjen

Hi Arjen, not sure if you say my update to my earlier post.

I was having the same problem with a CAHTA SHT4B/USB 4 port telephone device. After days or testing and contacting Synway (see the details in my earlier post), I was able to trace it down IVM version 4.03 itself. The problem does NOT occur with version 4.02 as that is what I am using now. Unfortunately, the E-mail function doesn't work very well in this version of IVM but at least it answer calls  . This is by no means a fix but I hope this will save you (or anyone who reads this) some time and frustration.

Arjen, can you post some details of your config? What board/modem are you using? Are you using Axon? .....

Also, can anyone from NCH comment on when this might be fixed.

    Thank you

  11. Hello, I am having the same problem after installing a CAHTA SHT-4B/USB. I used a voice modem previously and it generally worked well (except it didn't pick up caller ID every time). The new CAHTA USB device is picking up caller ID every time and always answers after the 3 rings that IVM is set to answer. However, after answering, the CAHTA board hangs after 1-2 seconds unless I am talking during these first 1-2 seconds.

I have tried all of the settings mentioned above in IVM but the results don't change. If I do speak during the first 1-2 seconds, the rest of the call works as expected and the CAHTA board responds very quickly to numbers entered by a caller.

I am running IVM 4.03 on XP and I have downloaded the latest drivers from Synway (4.8.0.1) for the CAHTA USB device.

I expect that there is a setting on the CAHTA board that I need to change through ShCtiConfig but i just don't know which one. Can anyone help or atleast give me an idea of what kind of setting I need to look for?

    Thanks in advance

UPDATE!! Some success but clearly a problem in V4.03.

Hello, I have been working on this since my last post and since nobody has replied, I have done my best to find a solution/work around. After removig the device and reinstalling I found that it seemed to work for aboiut 4 to 5 inbound calls and then it would hang up immediately on all subsequent calls (if there was no voice in the first 1-2 seconds). Clearly removing the device and reinstalling ever 4-5 calls is NOT an option. After further defining the problem, I tried the following changes in an attempt to fix the issue.

Here is what I have tried:

I tried changing various settings within IVM including (one by one of course):

    - "Enable end-of-call tone detection" (on and off)

    - Enable software based ...." (on and off)

    - "End of call Detect Delay" (tried numbers from 300 - 5000)

    - Use default Out-Going Message VS Oride Out-GOing Message for this OGM

    - on the Audio tab, Record Detect level" (0 to -32)

All of which failed to fixed the issue.

So I tried various versions of the Snyway drivers:

    - v4.8.0.1

    - v4.7.3.0

    - v4.7.1.9

Again, all of which filaed to fix the problem (or even change the problem)

Just today, I tried to reinstall my older version (V 4.02) and eveything worked perfectly!!!! I tired to break it by calling over 10 times but it still worked perfectly. So I am currently using the following config:

    - Win XP SP2 (patched to MS's latest updates)

    - SHT 4B/USB

    - Drivers for SHT 4B/USB are V4.7.1.9 (I will not update them as it works!!)

Unfortunately the E-mail function does not work properly with V4.02 but at least I can take calls now!! Also, I noticed that I cannot rename the main line (called "CAHTA 0") or IVM stops answering. Again, leaving it as CAHT 0 is a small price to pay for the ability to take calls.

According to this post: http://nch.invisionzone.com/index.php?show...art=#entry15871 Version 4.03 "* Updated CAHTA/Synway library". So clearly the issue is with the new code in Version 4.03.

Can someone from NCH comment on this and let me know how to get any fixes? please!!!!!!! I really need my E-mail function to work again.

    Thank you

    This config works:

    Weekdays: 09:00:00 to 17:00:00

    Saturday: 11:00:00 to 15:00:00

    Sunday: 11:00:00 to 15:00:00

Between these hours: Answer with default OGM

After hours: Answer with default OGM

    This config works:

    Weekdays: 09:00:00 to 17:00:00

    Saturday: 11:00:00 to 15:00:00

    Sunday: 11:00:00 to 15:00:00

Between these hours: Answer with default OGM

After hours: Answer with OGM: "1st Greeting" (Custom Greeting)

This config DOES NOT answer the call and give message mentioned above:

    Weekdays: 09:00:00 to 17:00:00

    Saturday: 11:00:00 to 15:00:00

    Sunday: 11:00:00 to 15:00:00

Between these hours: Answer with default OGM

After hours: Answer with OGM: Increase number of rings to answer calls after by: 5

The only setting I changed in the three scenerios is the "After Hours" setting. Has anybody successfully changed the number of rings that it takes to answer a call after hours?

Am I missing a setting somewhere? Any help would be appreciated.

  14. This should be fixed in the upcoming release of IVM.

Hey folks, I just installed IVM 4.03 (available at http://www.nch.com.au/ivm/index.html and select "Download IVM") and my E-mail problems have gone away! I still use a third party smtp server but the program now sends the E-mail on its first attempt every time. Just thought I'd share the good news.

BTW, I did have one problem after I installed the update. I couldn't save to a network folder any more. I found that the reason for this is that the installation of IVM sets up the service to logon as a system account that doesn't have permissions to the network. To resolve this I simply changed the service to use a network account to logon. For those that need it, in windows XP, the procedure goes like this:

    - Click on Start > Run

    - type in services.msc (hit enter)

    - scroll down to "IVM Answering Attendant Service" <- right click on this and select properties

    - select the "Log On" tab

    - Under "Log on as:" , select "This Account" and either browse to find your network account or enter DOMAIN\ACCOUNTNAME

    - Enter the pasword twice

    - Click OK to close the dialog box

    - reboot (Restarting the service will probably work fine too)

  15. Hi, I am trying to connect to my ISP's (Rogers) SMTP server using smtp.broadband.rogers.com. I also tried smtp.broadband.rogers.com:587 in case this port might work but no difference. I know Rogers closes port 25 as I tried to access a third party's smtp server on port 25 but had no success until I switched to port 587 (the third party supported these two ports on their smtp server).

I have switched to this third party's smtp server for IVM with intermittent success. The third party is hosted by www.netfirms.ca but I access using my personalized address of smtp.scrapbookmemories4u.ca:587. This has worked sometimes, but I often get a new error message: "Mail send error (RCPT TO not accepted). Your server may require authenticated email. Please see mail settings." While the message seems to point to the fact that I have not authenticated, I actually have all of the authentication information in the "E-mail Settings" for IVM. Also, I don't get this message every time. Even odder still, I can sometimes get by this message by changing the "Default mail reply" in IVM (This may just be conincidence but it often works  )

Just as a note, MS Outlook 2003 has no problem sending mail from either Rogers or the third party server (on port 587 for the 3rd party)

Any help would be much appreciated! thanks

*** UPDATE to this post. After switching to the third party SMTP server, the mail isactually working!! However I still get the ""Mail send error (RCPT TO not accepted)....." error but the IVM software keeps retrying until it eventually works. The error can happen from 1 time to more than 10 times before the mail is actually sent. I haven't used the IVM software long enough to say there is a typical number of times this error appears. So, I mostly funtional but it still be nice to use my ISP's SMTP server.

  16. What is the mail server you are attempting to connect to? If anyone else is also having this issue could you please let us know what the server address is? With this information we'll then be able to investigate the problem.

    Fixed, thanks!

  17. Hi folks, I am new to this software and I am getting the same error as mentioned earlier. (MAIL FROM not accepted). Everything elses seems to work except the E-mail function.

I have tried using Eudora, Outlook Express and Outlook as mail clients and all of them could send and receive mail but the error from IVM remained the same. I have followed the steps from http://www.nch.com.au/kb/10006.html (correctly I hope  ) but agin, I still get the error.

I am running the following currently:

    Win XP

    IVM 4.02

Outlook 2003 (with only one account so I belive it is the "default" mentioned elsewhere)

    I have done the following

    - set the service to log in as a windows account called IVM (which is in the local administrators group)

    - I log in with the account called IVM into windows to run the software

    - tried running outlook/eudora at the same time as IVM to see if that makes a difference (it didn't :( )

Any suggestions? or can anyone give details as to what they have done to fix the error?

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
