  1. I was able to add a MP4 into a new Project and play it. I used the 'Add Video' button. Can you play the MP4 outside of PS?
  2. Tom, I think what you are reading in help is what N_C_H_josh was pointing to. It's in reference to an Export Video type of GIF. In the help on page 71 of the PDF it says Screen References - GIF Encoding Settings Looping Select this to get your GIF repeat itself endlessly. There is no mention of selecting a duration. I just played with an animated GIF. While it will look indefinitely when I launch it from Windows, PS shows it's length to be 1.3 seconds. PS will not allow me to extend the duration. I copied the GIF to the slide slow 3 times and changed in TRANSITION time to .1 second (lowest allowed). You may want to play around with that approach to get your set duration. Full disclaimer; I'm relatively new to PS.
  3. Thanks what I wanted to confirm. Thanks
  4. Thanks for the suggestion elk but I need to ask, is this know to fix the issue. Is there suppose to be proportional spacing in PS? ... or is it 'when all else fails, reinstall' πŸ˜‰ I ask because this is a on a relatively new install. Thanks
  5. Here's and example in this forums editor. When I hit RETURN, I start a new paragraph with a line spacing from the previous. When I hit SHIFT+RETURN, it does a line break keeping the lines closer together than a paragraph break. Same thing if you increase, the font size, the line and paragraph spacing changes. In order to get proportional spacing. At the end of the day, I want to somehow reduce the spacing allocated between lines in the Text Overlay.
  6. I'm using Text Overlay for the title slide based on a photo. I've selected 2 different font sizes but the line spacing does not seem to adjust to font sizes. I've tried SHIFT-ENTER, to create a line line break, as opposite to a paragraph with just ENTER, which works in other editors but does not seem to in PS. Can the spacing between Text Overlay lines be changed and/or is there a better way to make a title slide? Thanks
  7. Well, I'm new to PhotoStage myself but I'll give it a shot. When you look at the HELP file at you see page 69 http://help.nchsoftware.com/help/en/photostage/win/help.pdf: "Background Image Widescreen Fit Select the aspect ratio mode for the menu’s background image. ● None: The background image will maintain its current aspect ratio regardless of the video output. ● Crop: The background image will be cropped to match the aspect ratio of the video output. Parts of your background image may be cut off if the aspect ratio does not match. ● Letterbox: A black background will display behind the image to create the correct aspect ratio to match the video output. ● Stretch: The background image will be stretched horizontally or vertically to match the aspect ratio of the video output" What I don't see on mine, is the NONE option. I suspect that it could be because of the resolution of your pictures and/or the setting in File->Options->Media Files->Snapshot Resolution. What PS likely needs to do is match the resolution of the media to resolution of the EXPORT video. That is why you have the choice. I just did a test with Export to Resolution "1920 x 1080 - 1080p HD" selecting LETTERBOX and it produced a good result. It does not show the letter box format you see on the Export. I'd recommend trying your desired Export Resolution with Letterbox and see if that works for you.
  8. Thanks N_C_H_josh. Understand. I was able reproduce and document the issue and put it into a Dropbox public folder (I hope). The following should take you to it. https://www.dropbox.com/s/u2p34ia2swb60x7/Audio File Link Problem.pdf?dl=0
  9. How do I share screen shots Fred28? I can't see any place for attachments and I can't paste images into the reply box
  10. It still seems strange that my original project file, with pointers to subdirectories, would be changed to point to where I backed up. I have one directory each for audio, images and narration (externally recorded). This structure is lost, understandability, during the backup. It looks like the backed up SPJ file does not reference a directory for the media files. So my other option is to copy the backup directory as my new current project with everything in one directory.
  11. Ah, thanks DannR. I thought it was Bookmarks for navigating around the PROJECT not adding chapters for a DVD.
  12. In another post, I talked about all of my PROJECT MEDIA files pointing to the backup location, rather than original directory, after performing a PhotoStage backup. I now have another problem with AUDIO files. When I right click on an AUDIO file, select FILE DETAILS, then point it to a different location (the original in this case), the AUDIO file exhibits the following behavior: The check mark disappears against the AUDIO file in MEDIA A (1) appears beside the file name (when I can get it to display in MEDIA). Is this an error message When I double click on the AUDIO file in MEDIA, it will play. The AUDIO shows in the film strip with the correct name. When I right click to adjust the Audio, the panel will not play the audio When I play the show, the AUDIO file does not play. All other clips play. I don't have the same problem with PHOTO's. They still work after I change their location from the backup to the original source. Thoughts?
  13. I assumed it was a smart idea to occasionally do a backup of a Project. I took one recently but kept working on the Project using FILE->Back up project files to folder I just discovered that my MEDIA files are now pointing to the BACKUP location and not their original location. I checked and the SPJ file being used is still the original and not the backup. The modified date for the SPJ in the backup is when I made the backup. I'm now having to go back in to all my media and relink them from the backup to their original location. Is this a bug? Thanks
  14. I've created 2 BOOKMARKS in PhotoStage. I can see them and have a choice for removing them. What I can't find how to navigate to them. How do I tell PS to go to a specific bookmark? Thanks
  15. Chris75, thanks for your question. It caused me to go back and look at my approach and double check for an alternative. And yes, I have saved it as a project. I found I can replace an item by using the following: Find the item in MEDIA Right-click to 'File details ...' In File Path, select the item you wish to replace the current version with This preserves all actions on the item as well.
  16. I'm finding it a bit of a challenge updating external audio with new versions. PhotoStage keeps the file locked so I can create a new version with exiting PS. The workaround I've found is to add a version number to the file name. Add that audio, drop the original then add the new audio to the show. Is there an easier way where I can update in place? Thanks
  17. I'm creating my first Photo Essay for a competition at my camera club. Unfortunately, they have not provided much detail on the dimensions for submitting the video. The clubs standard size for still image competitions submissions is 1920x1080. My thoughts/questions are: I think I should export my still images, to be loaded into PhotoStage, in 1920x1080. Will this size be respected in PhotoStage or will it be downsized? I am thinking I should export 1920x1080 HD as the judges will be reviewing them on their own computers. Is this a correct assumption? Export as MP4. Is there a better/common type that does not use compression? I have no idea what to choose for frame rate? Default seems to be Variable 14.985 to 29.970. Is this something I need to play with based on aspects like transitions? Thanks for any pointers. I use LightRoom for my images.
  18. Well, actually it can. The metadata fields are readable. I'm now using 'Exif wMarker' to label my JPG's before adding them to PhotoStage. The use an encoding techinque in the text fields. To add TITLE you enter [xmp.dc:title] or select it from a drop down. 'Exif wMarker' is what I'm using but it would be a useful enhancement for TEXT in PhotoStage.
  19. I'm wondering if there is someway to use the METATDATA Title field in my picture to populate the TEXT box overlay on my slide? Thanks
