Hi, newcomer to Videopad but had experience with other programs, mainly Premiere. I started back in the late 90s when non linear was just about affordable and large Hard drives were 4GB !!!! if you had 2 or 3 you were god !
Anyway its been a while since using an edit system and I chose Videopad as it looked familiar although there are a few bit missing I would like to see back.
My first try with Videopad was ok so I tried to edit my bands rehearsal , this consisted of 4 video tracks each on its own timeline and an audio track in WAV format on a spare audio timeline. It became impossible to edit as the preview screen wouldn't show video, just a static frozen frame. Anyway in the end I managed to put one song together at around 3 1/2 minutes with a few transitions and efx, nothing too fancy. I then messed around with settings and looked through this forum for answers but may have stumbled across it by trial and error. I removed the WAV audio and the video played while scrubbing through the time line and general editing . So I replaced the WAV file with another WAV file.....same thing happened, impossible to use. I removed WAV file again and all was good once more. I then converted the Wav file to MP3, placed it on timeline and hey ho! its all good.....well so far anyway, lets just hope it stays that way.
The thing I am missing most is in Premiere there used to be a small window with the whole project in, so if you wanted to quickly go from one part of the project to lets say 75% up the time line , you would just click on the area and it would take you there. With Videopad the only way I have found so far is to manually scroll though unless I am missing something.
All in all its not too bad so far.
Regards.
