  1. Yeah, that's probably it - didn't used to do that...😒 But the icon works; thanks!
  2. Different issue, but with my "old" 12.33 things were fine, but when I downloaded the latest "12.33" in order to "fix" some issues, I noticed there was no longer a "Save Project File As" option (i.e., it was grayed out)! What hoppened?? I did this all the time by creating a basic file and then doing a "Save as" when creating a new video based on my "template"! (I was able to do a workaround by using "Save Portable Project As", but that involved a lot of moving of files and re-inserting clips that I would think could be avoided with a simple "Save as"...) Thanks for any help! -0-0- Belay that - I discovered that you could use the "Save as" on the "Save Project" icon on the ribbon, as opposed to the "Menu - File" drop down menu!
  3. Hi, Borate! Thankfully the "left click" issue is no longer an issue; what came back (and apparently went away after I reinstalled VP - which I noticed has a few changes from the 12.33 I had on there) was the blackened and flickering bins, and the freezing of the program when I tried to reopen files. Maybe that was the "bug" that they fixed! The only issue I'm noticing with the new update is that it's giving me trouble trying to drop an audio file into Audio Track 2 (which already has some audio clips there): it doesn't seem to want to go past Audio Track 1 and vibrates something fierce when it pauses there, but eventually I get the thing down to Audio Track 2, so right now I can work around that.
  4. Update: I got desperate and downloaded the latest version (which is apparently the same version I had), and it seems to be working fine now! Will let you know if the issues happens again!
  5. Well, here it is, five months later, and it's happening again! 😞 It's been working fine up till now, but suddenly, ALL the bins are flickering, and when I tried to reload one of the audio files, the whole thing froze up on me and I had to reboot the computer! I noticed that after installing the latest Intel drivers that Video Pad tried to install a new update that apparently took care of some bugs, but then I got an error message saying it couldn't install it. I currently have v. 12.33 (at least that's what comes up when I click on "help"). I'm kinda stuck here until this glitch can be fixed; thanks!
  6. Thanks, Borate! I think I figured out what was causing it (at least it makes sense): the original video clip I was working from (in all the cases) had a width of 3840, and I routinely save my files with a much smaller width. I experimented with several save options, and the issue always seemed to be the size of the original file. Since saving the edited file in the bigger size, I've not had the split screen issue, but they're a bear to upload to Dropbox - they take forever! 😞 Thanks for your input!
  7. Greetings! This one has me stumped: we have several short videos (most are MOV format) submitted by various folks to be posted on our soon-to-be-launched website, and in reviewing the videos I've found little things I've needed to fix, like fade-ins and fade outs at the beginning and end of the video. So I load the MOV file into Video Pad, make the edits with no problem, then save the thing as a new MP4 file. However, when viewing the new video, there's a bizarre split screen effect! I tried saving it as a MOV file, but get the same problem. Is this a VP issue, or an export issue, or something else? Have never had this problem before. Thanks! -0-0- I found a work-around, although I'm not sure this was the cause of the "split screen effect" - I used "Export" instead of "Save as", and used the default frame width of 3840 instead of the smaller one I generally use. I suspect this issue might have something to do with the original video clip being put together on another platform, but I'm not sure. At any rate, we're back in business!
  8. Yeah, there is, and I put it on the lowest sensitivity possible; it's just different than my old HP and probably just takes some getting used to! I'll experiment some with the linking issue and see if I can recreate any consistent problems! Thanks!
  9. I'm afraid I'm stuck with the mouse that I have (it's a brand new ASUS laptop), but you may be on to something with the right-click issue - this mouse pad is EXTREMELY sensitive (drives me nuts sometimes), and there have been times when I thought I was left-clicking and some drop down menu comes up! I'll be cognizant of that, and will check that Click Lock issue. So far so good; haven't had the video bin flash on me yet, but we'll keep an eye on it; thanks so much! -0- Okay, just for the record, I really do think there's a bug that's related to unlinking the audio and visual of a clip, then deleting one or the other, as that's when the video bin goes black. I've been able to work around it by doing something with another bin (like adding a title), and when I open another video file the video bin seems to be working okay, but I really suspect there's something connected with that unlink/delete action. Just an FYI; thanks!
  10. Just as an FYI, I found the first path, but not the second; there IS no "AppData\Roaming\NCH Software\Components" under my user name. But we'll see how it goes... -0- Okay, here's what happened: 1. Started off fine, until I pulled the clip I wanted onto the track, unlinked the audio and video (I wanted to slow down the video but keep the audio to slide over later), and that's when the video bin went black and then started flashing when I tried to select something. 2. Closed VP, went back in, and the video bin was still flashing (and doing that "blue square" that I made the screen shot of). 3. Repeated the deleting of the Component files (this time there was just one folder, although I noticed an application file under the Video Pad folder with the same name - mp3el2 4. I was going to go back in a try working without doing the unlink (although I've never had problems with that before), but I see another response from you in the e-mail so I'll send this off and see what you have to say!🙂 -0- The glitch might have something to do with the unlinking process, as when I dragged a speed-changed clip onto the track, unlinked the audio, and deleted it, the video bin went black again! But instead of panicking 🙂 I just continued and added a title (which took me into a different bin), and so far things appear to be working; I'll keep you posted if things come to a grinding halt!
  11. Good news: I installed the release you recommended and it seems to be working fine now! I'll let you know if it acts up again! Thanks so much! -0- Well, I spoke too soon; even with the earlier release it started flashing again and refusing to let me select and move a clip. Help!
  12. Nope - it's still doing it even after the updates and changing that option to None (CPU only). (BTW, when I went in to update the Direct-X driver, there was nothing available for Windows 11...) The video bin still flashes when I open the file, and I made a screen shot of what it does when I try to drag the clip to the track and put it on Google drive: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gt1J73YzB8DddNsuB9Kz-7IWK1cCYxzG/view?usp=sharing I'm hesitant to install an earlier version only in that I actually tried opening this file on my other computer which has version 7-something, I believe (which works perfectly), and it wouldn't open it because it said it was created in a later version! I'll try, though... Here are the specs: Device name MiriamEaglemon Processor 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-1165G7 @ 2.80GHz 2.80 GHz Installed RAM 16.0 GB (15.7 GB usable) Device ID E2032759-E517-4B4C-814E-A54183899A0E Product ID 00342-20728-83701-AAOEM System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor Pen and touch Pen and touch support with 10 touch points Edition Windows 11 Home Version 21H2 Installed on ‎10/‎25/‎2021 OS build 22000.739 Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22000.739.0 Does this help?
  13. Thanks, Borate - I'll try that and let you know how it goes! MB
  14. Greetings! I have version 11.71 and have experienced what I think is a bug (and have reported it): I'm going along fine, adding video clips to the track, when suddenly the video bin goes black! I try to scroll down it and it flutters a bit before displaying the clips again, but then I can't drag any clips to the track - it makes a blue "box" like one does when selecting a bunch of files at once in Windows Explorer or something (wish I could add a screen shot)! I used to be able to close the program, get back in, and it would work fine, but not this time, and I've gotten out and in twice! It's stopped me dead in my work! Has anyone else had this issue? Thanks!
  15. You know, I think that should work; I'll try it! Sounds labor intensive but is probably one of those tricks that once you get the hang of it, it's easy-peasy. (And your sample spot looks just like mine... 😄 Thanks, Nat!
  16. Hi, all! This is an easy fix with a still photo, but is there any way to remove an obnoxious dust spot from a video? (The culprit is actually inside the lens, and if I can just "erase" it from the video, I'd rather do that than send in the lens...). The Censor Tool helps somewhat by turning a black spot into a gray spot, but I was wondering if there was some kind of "photoshop"-like tool where you could "clone" a nearby, for example, piece of sky to just paste over that spot? Thanks!
  17. Yay!!! That did it! Thanks so much!!! Have a great weekend! MB. I'll bet dollars to donuts that'll fix that "blanking out" issue on the audio tracks, as well! 😉
  18. Hi guys! Everything was working fine and dandy until today, when the same exact issue started happening with MY videos (a flat line on the audio when video clips are moved to the timeline - you can't hear the audio when you play them back BEFORE moving to the timeline, either). I have the latest version (8.95), and on the latest project, sound was fine with the intro template I created (audio was a different file), but the video clips had no sound. Just for kicks and grins I opened a previous project that I created in October (which was fine back then), and sure enough, some of the video clips had flat line audio while others were fine! I did everything that was recommended in the thread (although my computer doesn't have a folder called App Data under my user), at least the things I felt I could understand, and still have the problem. These are video clips that are even smaller than the HD clips I was using for the other videos I was having issues with, so I would think it wouldn't be a memory issue! I've copied the files from this new video I'm working on into a Google Drive folder like I did with the file having the "blank audio tracks" issue so you can see what I'm talking about (and the clip I inserted IS going to be edited - it's awful as is 🙂😞 https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1XoasTuj110ooKRXMSgv-7WsT7rUq5Cht?usp=sharing Thanks for your help, MB
  19. Thanks so much, Borate! I'll pass this on to my boss! 🙂 Cheers!
  20. Greetings! I really couldn't find this topic addressed anywhere, but my boss is asking me to look into getting a dedicated computer for using Video Pad that might be better than what I'm currently using (an HP Laptop, for everything else I do as well). I'm not a tech geek, so I'll just reproduce what the PC Properties themselves said (this is what I currently have): Intel Core i3-6100U CPU @ 2.30 GHz, 6 GB of RAM, a 64-bit OS, and 916 GB of storage, 537 of which is currently in use. We suspect I've been having some memory issues in some of my loading (very slow) and exports (items missing from the video), and if there's something bigger and faster out there that VP would run more efficiently on, we'll get it! Thanks!
  21. Thanks so much, guys! I also noticed that all the texts came across fine in the exported file, which was another issue I was having (some of them came across in the export, and some didn't), which prompted me to upgrade, thinking it might have been a problem with the older version. Would that actually be a memory issue? Thanks again; you guys are the best! And again, great advice; I'll certainly endeavor to put those things into practice! 🙂
  22. Wow - that did it! Thanks so much, Nat! I noticed that if I bring that horizontal bar back down it blanks out some of the tracks again (even though you'd think they'd still be visible; I don't recall this issue with previous versions of Video Pad), but I can work with this! Take care!
  23. Thanks for the tips! Not sure why those two files didn't copy... I'll try reinstalling the program! Nope - I reinstalled the program and it's still showing blank tracks. Were you able to see that screen shot okay? Any ideas as to what could be causing that? I'm tempted to install a previous version but am not sure how to do that. Thanks. I'll share another screen shot where I've circled the audio track titles in red (so it's obvious that they exist), yet there's nothing to the right, and in fact the lower bit of Audio Track 2 appears to be cut off! https://drive.google.com/file/d/1rKh56yU-8rr0o-Unp6N1I7LBkFuTu_S-/view?usp=sharing Just now saw your request for me to upload those missing files; here's the Ross' Goose: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1TVdPM6InsQSaxWFpGVQj3MSRjhfh_ad-/view?usp=sharing ...and here's the Glossy Ibis: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1VANehkug4SG0xf_rEdMFm3LklKUTDt6z/view?usp=sharing Still not sure why these two clips didn't copy over... Update - now this is interesting! Just for kicks I tried collapsing all the audio tracks, and guess what: you could suddenly see ALL the audio tracks (in a compressed manner), so I was able to get rid of that one audio clip I wanted to get rid of :-), but when I expand, say Audio Track 1, everything below a certain point is screened from sight somehow (I also noticed that I could move the tracks up and down, so they're THERE, but the program won't let you see them below a certain point). So this doesn't happen within the program you're using? Do you suppose it's a memory issue, or a bug with the program? Thanks!
  24. Thanks, Borate! Restoring the default layout didn't work, so I'll try sending you a screenshot, then I'll try and share the project. Okay, let's see if this comes through - this is the screenshot, and you can see at the bottom where everything below level 2 is blank... https://drive.google.com/file/d/14Aq2eddiGe8WSu_o3ApB3O64grLkb7X7/view?usp=sharing Folder is uploading as we speak. Just for kicks and grins I tried opening another project, and it has the same issue; could it be a bug with the new version (8.95)? Okay, here's the link to the folder with the project: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1GeTdHnEbRBJ9y1O3XEywVy5Ct_NQMl2G?usp=sharing Just FYI, the clip from which I tried to unlink the audio is around 0:05:20 (the Yellow-shafted Flicker); it SAID I unlinked it successfully, but I could still hear the linked audio, and that's when I noticed the problem with the "blank" audio tracks - I couldn't see the linked audio in order to delete it!
