  1. Dear Cmaj, please check your mailbox Best regards
  2. OK, I tried your suggestions: 1) Mp4 re-encoding does not appear to solve the problem, still flickers. 2) The 10.12_64 version works fine! It took triple the time to render though, but produced video is flawless! No flicker at all! I rendered 2-3 times to be sure... V10.12_64 is OK.
  3. Untitled 1 is what I get when I render the project. I cannot exclude a local compatibility problem, however I must say that the problem appears to other projects of mine as well, while it does not appear with my v8.77 32bit version. Processor: AMD FX(tm)-6350 Six-Core Installed RAM: 8GB Hard disks: VP is installed on 500GB SSD (100.2GB free), while CASH files are stored on a separate HD 1TB (752GB free) OS: Windows 10 64bit Video card: Radeon RX560 Export settings are default for 720p. I experimented here with various settings, but the problem is the same. The export indeed takes a few seconds, but the produced video is flickering. I also tried to change transitions etc inside the editor, but it doesn't make any difference... I don't know if it is related, but at a point the program asked approval for an encoder file from NCH, which of course I accepted. But still the same problem. Maybe is something else, I do not know...
  4. Here is something to be looked at: Everything works fine, the project plays perfectly while still in the editor, BUT when I render the project I get a video "flicker". It happens randomly, in several places inside the final video file. I made a small project portable just for you to reproduce. I also include the rendered file that I get, just in case the problem cannot be reproduced in your computers. Contact me for anything more that you might need, Regards
  5. I own some versions of VP, and from time to time I have been critical regarding actual bugs and "what I consider as bugs", that being weird choices made by the programmers. I have whined about delays on exit, repetitive parts of audio, etc. And of course, last but not least, the leftward "magnetism" of the track editor... And just when I gave up and accepted my fate, NCH hit me with a new 64bit version! I couldn't resist to download and install the beta over my official version. And what I expected to be a test, proved to be a pleasant surprise! Whoa my friends! It is fast, starts faster, loads faster and exits in a blink without errors! Bravo to the programmers, looking forward to the official 64bit release!
  6. Dear friends, I am trying to record video with a higher audio bitrate, ideally 192KHz. However, despite the appropriate settings in the recording window and mixer, the recorded file is always at 44.1kHz. Initially I thought that it might be due to H264/5 or MPEG4 format limitations, but the same happens when I use VP to record a plain audio file: All settings are for 192KHz but I only get 44.1KHz Is there any way to record at a higher sampling than 44.1? Best regards, Takis
  7. This is more or less what I do, to find a way out: I split just before the end, normalize speed for the last part and fade out only this part. But obviously this is not practical... I leave it to you (NCH) for consideration, and who knows? A few months ago, I was complaining about losing equalizer (EQ) settings after split. At the time you were pretty firm that "it is a new clip and thus EQ has to reset". Thankfully, at the latest VP versions it is fixed and now after split the part-clip inherits the EQ of the mother-clip. So maybe you (NCH) change your mind and fix the fade issue also. Regards, Takis
  8. Dear Borate, I am not referring to video, but to AUDIO fade. I am using v 8.63. Please put an audio clip on the timeline and fade it out. It fades smoothly to the desired extend. So far so good! Now put again a clip on the timeline and slow it down, i.e. to 60% . Then, try to apply fade-out. You will immediately see my point! You don't have to hear it, you see it on the descending line of the fade. If needed I will provide more info (photos or a small project) in order to help fixing it. But I think, you will notice it immediately... Please remember that I am talking about AUDIO Regards, Takis
  9. Dear Borate, It doesn't work like this... When you change the tempo of an audio clip, the clip shortens or lengthens accordingly. I am synchronizing audio instruments on parallel tracks. You do NOT know the amount of fade to apply until the clip is fully synchronized, thus of a specific length. The goal here is to erase an instrument smoothly to a specific point. It is a bug, fade has to apply last. We need fade inside the hierarchy of effects. After all there is an effect chain for other effects (eq, amp, etc), why is fade left outside? Regards, Takis
  10. Dear friends, This is by all means a glitch, so please fix it! If you fade-out a "speed changed" audio clip, the fade applies to the original clip and a total fade is not executed. My case: I delay a clip of my second voice saxophone to 70% in order to match my tempo. I apply fade at the end, to erase smoothly. However, the fade stops at 2/3 and part of audio is cut out. Regards, Takis
  11. Hello my friend, Thanks for the patch. I downloaded it and will give it a try! Regards, Takis
  12. Thanks, I will try to reinstall several times in order to get the snap-less version. If I am lucky, with a horizontal box... Excuse me for asking, but why are these different "in shell" versions randomly accessed? Wouldn't it be more straightforward if -instead of putting our hopes on a roulette- we could select the version we want via a checkbox during installation? For example, I could uncheck "snap", instead of installing continuously hoping to win the lottery of a snap-less future 🙂. Anyway, I think my message was sent, I hope it passes to the programmers. Thank you again for your patience, It's another extra-hot summer in Greece (39 deg at the time of writing)🥵 Regards, Takis
  13. First of all, thanks for your prompt response. To me, the pop-up window is still vertical but, whatever shape it has, the problem is the same. I do NOT use the scissors to split, I do right-click and use the menu. However, I use the red-line all the time, in order to aim my actions on the timeline... As far as I know, there is no other way to split, resize or select at a point, without bringing the red-line there! Very often, I have to zoom more and click again to reposition it. Working for years with VPad, I am very fast at it. So as I click to move the red-line, I accidentally hit the bracket that popped beside it. Usually I notice and then CTRL+Z is my best mate. But if I don't and save, I had it! "Save as" is not a solution. I cannot keep different copies of my working project! It does not work this way, I lose track with recent changes. Imagine working on a Word document, do you use "save as" to a new filename every time you add text? I don't think so... True, at some important projects I keep a backup. However by advancing it gets obsolete by the minute... The automatic snap is not a feature. It's TROUBLE and indeed a big one.... In my humble opinion you should remove it, even if it was the boss's idea 🙂. It works more like a leftward gravitational force! Everything I do to the left of the timeline, has an effect on clips at the right, no matter how far away they are. Producing means synchronizing multiple clips that lie on different tracks. I cannot work all the time with ALT pressed, in order to keep my right clips at their spot. Like a match-3 game, every time I move a brick at the left, all the others fall into a new position. I don't know how to make it clearer of how annoying this is... Regards, Takis
  14. Just lost a week's work AGAIN, due to the bracket little pop-up window...🤬 We talked about this before, and some improvement was done by changing the orientation of the window, from horizontal to vertical. However, this awful little feature is still alive , waiting to destroy your timeline... The bloody window comes up, whenever you reposition the red cursor-line and has 3 buttons, a scissor and 2 brackets. I reposition the red line every time I want o split or replay a part of a clip. This is a main part of video editing guys! The danger here is to accidentally click one of the two evil brackets, that will silently set that point as the ...beginning of the whole project, killing all previous video/audio! 🤬 Of course you can always undo, but the risk here is that -being absorbed by your project- you just do not notice it! Then you save, exit and ...YOU HAD IT! Next time you load the project, your work is crippled... This happened to me yesterday, I noticed it today and I am pulling my hair out of despair! There are several other issues, like resizing cross-faded clips. There, the program adds/removes length in a weird manner. I personally prefer to remove cross-fade effect, resize the clips and re-apply it. And of course there are my complains regarding the automatic leftward snap all over the timeline... Come on guys, it's more a problem than a feature! I will keep on complaining until you delete one of us, me or it! I cannot be the only one suffering from this leftward magnetism in the timeline! I have to continuously work with ALT pressed and even so, I am not totally protected from this "feature". Just try to move a clip's end to the left, even pressing ALT. Everything goes to the left no matter what... You have to always keep your mind on this leftward gravity! Lord have mercy! Finally, I have been using VP for many years, I might be critical in my comments but I believe that the programmers should be aware of our view. Thanks, Takis
  15. There must have been a problem with direct installation over previous versions. I totally removed VP and re-installed a clean copy of the latest v8.56. I licenced it with my key and now all cache files go to selected cache folder. Finally, I did not roll back to v8.45 since 8.56 does NOT suffer from delays! It is faster than ever! Of course there is the audio "not loading" problem, but I found a way around it... It might sound silly, but -at least to me- the problem appears when I double click a project to open Videopad+load. If I first open VP empty from its shortcut and afterwards load the project, everything works fine... It might take a few seconds more to load, in respect to previous versions, but it loads everything 100%. I reproduced it several times.
  16. This is really strange... I have a specific folder declared in options, but the folder remains empty... (pls look at the pics). https://ibb.co/K5sqDVQ https://ibb.co/SP2DpqV It is NOT an issue of 8.56, since I noticed this while running 8.45. It might also be older and did not see it. I wonder if it has to do with the delays I encounter.🤔 Any ideas?
  17. Thank you my friends, I will roll back to 8.45, thought 8.56 was a legit version and not a beta. I was so eager to get rid of the delays of 8.45 and moved on... Delays become an issue ONLY when there many small chunks of audio. Don't know if the same applies to video chunks. I play many organs on each other, this is why I need to have many small audio chunks. When they get more than 20, there are noticeable delays. Do you have an idea why the declared cache folder is empty? Does it save somewhere else? Thanks!
  18. Just upgraded to latest version 8.56, hoping it will solve some of the problems I faced in the previous version. The biggest problem (for me) in the previous versions are delays... Although not apparent to those who use single files, if you use many small chunks of audio in the timeline, significant delays appear to timeline playback and program exit. I press PLAY/STOP button, and it takes a few seconds to execute... Closing the program also takes more time than usual, especially if the timeline is playing. It might take from 5-30 seconds (!) and sometimes pops up the error message asking to report a bug. I took a look of the cache folder and surprisingly the folder is empty! I re-declared it in the "options/disk" menu, but still the folder is empty! Very strange... To be honest, this problem existed to all versions above v.6. I reported it before and uploaded sample projects and it was fixed partially, but not totally. Now in the late versions it is again very annoying... In the latest 8.56, there is also new problem: Importing a WAV audio file to a project does not complete... There is an hourglass stack on the file, and "processing %" does not appear at all. I have to delete and re-add the file in order to be processed by the program. Moreover, although the new contrast-look on the audio waveform is very clear and therefore plausible, this is true ONLY if a waveform is not selected. Selected waveforms are very unfriendly and hard to see. Regards, Leo
  19. Another one.... When you try to fade out an audio clip that it's speed is accelerated (i.e. 120%), fade applies to the non accelerated clip and there is a geographical miss of the effect. Version 8.16, Windows 10. Please check and fix, Regards, Takis
  20. Dear Nat and Borate, Thanks for the detailed instructions. I posted this issue, because I did not have it with previous versions. I use this small clip at the beginning of every music video of mine, since it is my logo. I pull it to the left, further than the beginning and place it (fading in-out) before the main video. I never had to think about zoom level nor the red line, I just pulled it left and the scroller was adjusting automatically until I could see the clip's start. Please note that the clip does NOT jump back when I release it to its position. As you can see in my screen-video, it happens before I release it. While dragging to the left, when I reach a critical area, the whole timeline scrolls creating an endless loop. Of course I always manage to overcome it, usually by totally zooming out, but this was not there in earlier versions. I am sure, since I do this in every video of mine and never dealt with it before. I will download and test the v8.10, maybe it is not there any more. I use windows 10, 64bit. Thanks again, Takis
  21. OK, I managed to record with a free windows app... In the video, please note that I try to move the small "flag" image to the beginning of the timeline. Unfortunately, I cannot reach there! The moment that I get close, the horizontal scroller jumps and it throws me back to where I started... There seems to be a connection with zoom and the position of the red line. So, if I zoom out totally, I am able to reach the left outmost of the project. But this is a problem, since zooming out makes the clip to move smaller and smaller and impossible to grab... Especially in big projects. File: https://files.fm/f/4sx885f8 Please inform me if you need a better video, or problem description. Regards, Takis
  22. Dear friends, Thanks for the immediate response. Concerning the gap-closure, yes, I refer to video clips and not static images. I mostly edit clips. For now I do as you suggested, either shift the clip to another track or resize the right clip to isolate and then trim the left one. Unfortunately, more clicks lead to mistakes and more work for me! This is why I am complaining all the time for this... Concerning the scroller problem, I am sorry that I am not clear enough, but is due to the nature of the problem. Unfortunately my debut demo expired and I cannot record with it, but I will try to find a solution (i.e. make a photo-map of what happens). I will come back today with a way to present the problem. Thanks
  23. Dear friends, Forgive my saying, but it is not a matter of focus. Either focus is on the left or on the right clip, shortening the left clip's end causes the right clip to move to the left NO MATTER WHAT (alt pressed). I have to firstly disconnect the right clip moving it to the right, then resize the left clip and finally bring the right clip to join again... At least this happens with v8.06, I haven't tried the latest version. Another issue, that I kindly put into your consideration is the following: When I try to move a prologue clip (on a parallel track) to the beginning of the timeline, something happens with the horizontal scroller and keeps on bringing it back... I try several times, even move it step by step, but still when it reaches the foremost edge of the project, auto scroll is engaged and it scrolls me back to where I started. It looks like a timeline-window scroller malfunction. I hope I was clear in describing the problem.. Regards Takis
  24. I ask it for a long period of time, but the programmers are solid-fixed in keeping this annoying automatic gap-closing engine... I do not understand why, I suppose they have a lot of work invested on this idea, mistakenly in my opinion. You see, as mentioned in the past, I work with lots of different audio and video clips on the timeline. Fundamental principles of Montage, require that I have them "on the table" at all times. This is why, I keep them either on different tracks or at far-right on the same track. Needless to say, the annoying auto-gap-closing feature keeps on moving clips continuously to the left, so it is a matter of time until my "parked" clips join the active timeline and mess up EVERYTHING! Every time that I resize, split, move, or replace a part of a clip, the software is closing gaps in a chess one-to-one pattern until ...mate! The ALT button, loudly proposed by NCH to be a solution, is NOT helpful. First of all, for some reason it works only when resizing the right clip... Resizing the left clip's end-point, ALWAYS forces gap-closure! I have been complaining about this in literally most of my comments here, but as I said above, NCH is obsessive on this issue... This time, I come back with another proposition, that could please both sides: Can you please add a lock feature to every clip, that forces it to STAY where we put it, and not move to its own mind? Thank you Takis

    Delay on exit?

Again today, I 've been waiting 20secs for the program to exit... It was not playing any clip at the time. I cannot find a pattern in order to conclude a possible relation with a specific program function. However, I suspect it has do with caching, since during the delay the disk led is working vigorously.. Please forgive my continuous reports, I try to report everything that might be a problem to the programmers. Lately I have this problem more than often...
