  1. ..mmm. . . I was wondering about that. The fundamental rule here or the secret sits in the "splitting of the clip". All effects are applied to the full length of a clip! cannot be done on portion of a clip. I.e., the effect will only terminate when the clip ends? Thanks St B
  2. How does one terminate a video effect? I have a clip that I want to start with a "spotlight", about a 1/4 screen in one corner, then grows to half and then to full screen. This happens in about 10 seconds at the beginning of a 2 minute clip. Question: How do I terminate the "spotlight effect" after 10 seconds into the 2 minute clip? The same question would also apply should I want to start a "spotlight effect", say about 90 seconds into the clip, active to the end? I think the same question could apply to various other effects. St B
  3. The way I use VideoPad is typically a "full length" clip with several short clips at various points and sometimes even in a stack of clips (ie full picture, close up, still closer, then certain elements like a quick facial expression or dance footwork) then stepping down again through the clips back to normal full screen etc. I always use the "full length's" audio (track 1) as the main reference to sync all clips. (and rename it to "Master Audio"). A two colour scheme would be nice where track 1 is green, and all other add-on audio tracks are blue (or whatever), because the sync activity is always between track 1 (master audio) and some other audio track, one at a time. (I just realized that my renaming of my audio tracks is to try and compensate for the current non-significance situation.) Do you think we can persuade NCH to bring such a mod in? St B
  4. Thank you guys for your responses. Is there some feedback to the NCH developers to look into this? I am sure that issues like this low contrast presentation of the audio tracks would bug other users as well, and that an improvement on the situation can only benefit VideoPad and its users. St B
  5. Is there any way of changing the audio wave's colour? The current colour scheme, when selected (light blue or green on middle/light grey), is not very eye friendly. St B ver: 10.56
  6. Thank you Borate, As mention above somewhere, mine fixed itself somehow. Not sure how that happened. I still think there is a sensitive combination of some sorts that can cause the issue. St B
  7. Hi Borate, I sent a message with the links I included a 2nd link with two video exports showing the freeze on one and a 2nd where the screen goes total pink The Intel page is bit confusing because it states latest Xe driver version as 27.20.100.9466 on date 14/5/2021 My machine was already on version 27.20.100.9565 on date 29/4/2021 DirectX is version 12 (latest) Thanks for wanting to help. St B
  8. Hi Borate, The video runs perfectly every time in the sequence preview window. Problem now is that it randomly did the image freeze or black screen thing on an exported video but after I went and checked what sits at that position on the timeline, (found the crop spec box and "x" out again), the problem disappeared without me doing anything. So, now I don't have a version that wants to do that again. Are there some things that I could look out for should I get it again? It seems to be sensitive for a certain condition. Thanks for wanting to help. St B
  9. After hours of work doing my final export, playing my export on my LED TV (or any other monitor) gets an image freeze (or go totally black, or some colour), as soon as the "Video effects -> Crop" starts! What am I doing wrong? My VideoPad is on the latest version. = 10.54 . . . . and then it works perfectly for no reason , no change! This seems to be an unstable feature . . . and then it freezes again ?!? Please help. St B
  10. Hi Nat, Yes I agree but my situation is a bit abnormal. Let me sketch you the scenario. Maybe some other persons may find our conversations useful someday. The scene is filming Spanish foot stomping dancing:- I typically have 3+ tracks, footage with audio. Track 1 (original) is the main take (full length) with audio music, but full of background noise, aircon, echoes, some other foreign noises, but with the main noise, Spanish foot stomping (quite load). Track 2 is the new main audio music (overlaid) from the original music file, and must be synchronised with track one. Typically, track 1 will now be muted and one will be left with track 2's clean music with clean sound, but . . . Track 1 comes back in with lower volume. However, the foot stomping is quite overwhelming and after balancing, track 2's clean music with track 1's foot stomping, track 1's music and other noises, sort of disappears. That was the easy part. That said, the discussions above comes in now with track 3,4 etc., where short portions of video such as Spanish, Highland etc, (maybe close-ups of feet work, facial expressions, etc) ,each with its own particular sound, gets overlaid on the main video track (1) which may also consist of quiet ballet and other silent dance styles (speaking feet noise), with the noisy sound track 1 muted as far as possible. This is where one would turn the track 1 (original video) volume back on for the duration of the overlay (portion) to get the feet noise back. Hope I explained properly. I got everything working fine now. Thank you St B
  11. Thanks Nat for this explanation, It is more or less the way I do it but I was hoping for an easier more elegant way. It sure isn't very user friendly. I sure hope NCH is working towards a solution on this. Thanks again St B
  12. The ducker process doesn’t work that well (I think), because every change is different and has to be judge and adjusted by ear to get proper balance/mix of audio channels in question. As per Nat’s instructions: Move the Clip Preview (I let it “play” (in clip preview) until the position then hit “pause”) cursor along the preview window to the required point where you want to make your audio changes. Note that the Timeline cursor follows . . . . This works well accept that I wish the red line would stop jumping towards the click points as I insert them on the audio line where I am busy juggling the volume, and in the process losing the time line position. Do you have advice on preventing this? Somehow, while doing this, I now and again loose the connection between the two red lines. Only way I could get them linked again, is to first click on some other video channel on the time line, and then come back and start Nat’s instructions again before I can continue. Do you recognize some obvious mistake I am making? I really appreciate you guys’ assistance so far. Adjusting/doing these volume mixes is a big part of my editing process. Thank you St B
  13. "Note that the Timeline cursor will now also move to that same point. i.e. the Clip Preview cursor controls the timeline cursor...but not the other way around." I did notice this, but it happened randomly. I probably got into this situation accidently. Then, being frustrated with the next change that I can't get it to respond the same again. Thank you Nat. I will try your instructions. St B
  14. I am busy with videos where there are three or more audio tracks. No1 is the master audio track (also the track being used to sync everything), but should be muted or go slightly softer at certain points when other audio tracks should be louder. When I have the red line in position on the timeline and click on the audio, the audio wave pops up in the clip preview where one can manipulate the volume line but . . . The red line in the clip window is NOT at the same position, causing a lot of shuffling to find the same position where I want to change the volume. How do I get these two windows to sync? St B
  15. Thank you Borate, I typically do "save as" with incrementing numbers for exactly that purpose. Good suggestion! The problem usually comes in when, after lots of work and saves, that one suddenly realises that and ask the question, "when did this clip of 2 hours ago decided to shift left or right. " Grouping to lock together with the master track - good suggestion! Thank you. Question: During this process and final checking one may find that a cut needs a slight trim on the front side, and in so doing wants the clip to start later, but still in sync (grouped). "Set end" for trimming the end of the clip works perfectly, but the front side gives me a headache. As soon as I move the "Set start" slightly to the right so that the clip starts a second or so later, it does shorten the clip but the whole clip jumps forward to the original starting point and is out of sync. All I want is to trim the front end off. Position should stay the same. Help please St B
  16. May I please change the question a little. I am busy with editing video consisting of various video tracks and one master sound track. (It is ballet dancing). One track is the master video track while the other video tracks are pieces to cut in at certain points. I use the master sound track to sync. Question: As I go along, the short cut-in pieces are placed in position (as overlays) but ... how do I lock them to the master video and sound track in order not to move by accident when I work on the next or other video cut-ins while getting their positioning/sync right? Thanks St B
  17. Hi borate, Thank you for this, your time and effort. It works now! It would be nice though, if VideoPad could warn one via pop-up message or so that settings will have no effect due to conflicting settings or something. Would have saves us some time and effort. Thanks again -0-0- One other question now, What would be considered optimum settings (compression and whatever) for publishing good quality video for closed group viewing. I think using Google Drive seems to be a good option. (Looks like YouTube and Vimeo have to many limitations). I am looking for the settings that could be the "sweet spot", best quality but not suffocating the download/streaming effort for viewers. We are working on a +/- 90minute video (Dance recital) because we are not allowed to have a traditional onstage performance like in the past due to the Covid-19 issue. Hope you can help, Thanks St B
  18. I have updated all my NCH software (Paid a lot) to latest. Still doesn't work! https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1kPY_Es1-RkvXIGLXZsO5Y_cJ5EZY4Sh8?usp=sharing Awaiting your solution. Thanks St B
  19. Thank you for the response. Yes I fully agree and that is exactly what I tried to do, change settings to lower. For some reason VideoPad ignores the requested settings and defaults back to original settings during the export, regardless of my changed settings. Is there a trick somewhere or a condition on a clip that prevents changes like this that I should look out for?
  20. I am trying to reduce the file size when exporting my 1080HD video from 60fps to 30fps, bitrate from 49129 to 1209bps etc., for uploading to youtube or vimeo but after exporting, all settings are still the same as the original file. What am I doing wrong? St B
  21. I have latest updates of win 10 , 6 month old i5 Laptop. enough memory and SSD space with a Pioneer Bluray burner. .. . . but , Select Burner doesn't show any burner . At this point, I cannot use "Express Burn"! Any Ideas how to solve this problem? MFG St B
  22. Thanks again borate for your effort and response. I think I'm going to give up on this one. I don't want to waste your time any further. "Apparently the successful stabilized file is included in your link above" - Yes, but with sound unprocessed or (still processing) I tried again, can't find any sign of progress indication anywhere?? (I must say a shortcoming I found in some other processes as well) My hardware: (Maybe the software is hardware sensitive) Asus VivoBook Intel i5-8265U @ 1.60Ghz (8th Gen) Windows 10, 64-bit (update = current) Total SSD storage = 595 GB Memory = 8 GB Intel(R) UHD Graphics 620 St B
  23. Hi borate, Thank you for your response and I apologize for my delayed response. (In between everything else I am running around trying to keep my wife's Covid locked down dance studio alive) 1) I have installed the latest version of VP and the stabilizer (video and sound) did work perfectly. But then requested payment which, as said before, is not an option for me. So I restored to previous status, i.e. VP 8.23 2) Direct-X is up to date - ver 12. So is my Intel video drivers. 3) Herewith the Dropbox link (included is the original video file : "Original - VID_20200518_103327.mp4" https://www.dropbox.com/sh/1yguxo6ytkpjewd/AADSRrZCrCJ1dzNdILdJluAHa?dl=0 The project contains the stabilized attempt up to the point where it is "still processing the sound" for hours to never end . . . The video is a typical home movie, nothing sensitive or secret. Thank you St B.
  24. Thank you for responding. I have tried a short clip as you suggested with the NTSC setting. It worked and the sound is there but . . . the preview window freezes halfway in. Tried a few times but no improvement. It does however works fine when viewing the exported video. Then tried a longer video, (the one that started this post), 7 1/2 minutes, but . . . no success. Keeps on telling that sound will be available after processing. (how many hours?) Nothing personal here, (your assistance is always appreciated), but having to pay NCH to repair a fundamental function they messed up, really sets me off! Upgrades to get better, improved, processes and enhancements, is understandable and acceptable. I am not a heavy user and justifying this update cost isn't justifiable. I will rather buy a camera stabilizer for less. I apologize for venting here. St B
