  1. Apologies for the chineese firedrill as I'd tried using a CD-RW 3. EB's EP' ? What are you talking about.. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Moot now but my misnomer, I saw it as soon as I posted but as I couldn't retract/revise the post, and figured someone would surmise I'd tried using the "ER" (not ER) Express Rip feature of "EB" (Express Burn). Please forgive my sloppiness and may I say 'duhno-ness' of my post. Anyway, unbelieveably I got past the middle eastern Sony 'support' and spoke one of their US techs who was an actual tech who advised me to indeed either choose between Nero 6 or Sony's other DVD software (Click to DVD and DVD dragn Drop, etc.), but also that I needed to keep InCD (which I'd pretty much assumed as an absolutely necessity w/'my' Sony VAIO's packet writing for CD's). Long of the short of it, Sony's DVD app's (with their bugs) do indeed cause too many issues when teamed up with those of Nero's (albeit I suspect fewer bugs), but at least Nero publishes them (unlike Sony). Anyway thanks for the reply and for now I will be busy restoring (formatting) my OS as I have a few trojans and malware that have finally replace the oil with molasses in my machine (i.e.; RealPlayer's "NewDotNet" is one impossible SOB to try and irradicate. Lastly, I still would like to hear form anyone using a VAIO and what tweaks (if any) being used for Nero 6 as I still have my external $600 +RW burner that I bought thinking I'd bypass Sony's proprietary brick walls, and I'm sure others have gone to Nero and are enjoying 'life' w/o Sony's DVD software. That or I'd like to haer about anyone having found Sony's DVD software actually pleasing to them. But after scratching my head and failing to work Sony's and my seeing Nero is much more simpler... Nuff said.
  2. Hi again, I errored when saying I tried using EB', and also forgot something* (hard to imagine, I know). I tried using Express Burn and the tracks wouldn't show up when using a Memorex CD-RW I used with SonicStage's version 2.3. And with SonicStage, I think I burned their ('my') .oma file extension songs (having converted them to something or other, the only coversion offered). That CD (with a little difficulty) read's as a folder and assorted file extensions. In the folder, the folder's files all being .atp files (the song tracks I'm guessing). I am trying EB's EP' as I heard that one could get them back onto one's HD so that they could be played on a media player. As mentioned, I burned 'my' music files having dumped SonicStage immediately thereafter as it was so bunky and now towards getting the music playable on my iTunes application and/or onto my iPod as well, I think I recall that one needs only to change the track's extension name to .mp3 (or so I'm hoping) to free my otherswise still held hostage music. Anyone know if this can be done and if I'm going in the right direction?
  3. Hi Everybody! New to DVD copy/burning, I see other packet writing software inteferes with a user's operating system, and EB' doesn't work for some drives? I have a Sony VAIO (I know, you don't have to say it) with a PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K12D [CD-ROM drive] mounted on a Windows XP Home platform. Is my drive supported by EB'? Would anyone here also have such an OS and would know if there are any conflicts with having the following applications installed, ref. packet writing issues when InCD is installed? Ahead Software AG - Cover Designer Version 2, 3, 0, 6 Ahead Software AG - InfoTool Application Version 2, 0, 7, 0 Ahead Software AG - Nero BackItUp Restore Version 1, 2, 0, 12 Ahead Software AG - Nero BackItUp Scheduler Version 1, 2, 0, 12 Ahead Software AG - Nero BackItUp Version 1, 2, 0, 12 Ahead Software AG - Nero Burning ROM Version 6, 3, 1, 12 Ahead Software AG - Nero CD - DVD Speed Version 2, 2, 0, 0 Ahead Software AG - Nero DriveSpeed Version 2, 0, 0, 1 Ahead Software AG - Nero Fast CD-Burning Plug-in Version 1, 2, 0, 1 Ahead Software AG - Nero StartSmart Version 1, 0, 1, 26 Ahead Software AG InCDL Version 4, 2, 12, 1 Ahead Software AG incdsrv Version 4, 2, 12, 1 Sony's Drag'n Drop CD+DVD Version 3.00 Sony's Click to DVD version 2.0.00 Sony's DVgate Plus Version 1.2.01.08220 Express Burn freeware version 1.34 Express Rip version (I am not sure or dunno yet, but it came with EB') Supposedly the "manual and help" was to have been downloaded, but all I find is the help application and a search for the word "manual" in help revealed nothing but the link back to the download page. Is there no actual manual or am I just not finding it? 'Lastly', if anyone knows about Sony OS's, is there anything I need to know about purchasing CD-RW's and/or DVD-RW discs? I have yet to be able to successfully burn anything with the Memorex CD-RW disc's I purchased and I don't recall or have on hand any of the DVD discs to say what they are. I bought an external DVD rewriter (an LG Super Multi DVD Rewriter) after being unable to burn anything on my Pioneer DVD-RW drive thinking I needed it as Sony proprietary software or the DVD-RW drive seems to be restricting me from copying DVD's to my HD and/or to another writer. And the only time I suceeded in burning anything was when I used the external rewriter to play and the internal drive to record, but the DVD ejected midway through recording (likely just due to my AV and ignorance about realtime scanning?). I know with so many questions that this's a lot to ask, so kudos for anyone with both the expertise, time and kindness afforded in (hopefully) replying. Interestingly, I registered on the forum last night and replied to a string's last post with a brief question (related to that string), but now can't find it here in the EB' posts. And yes, I was logged in.
