  1. Here is my original post: I use Wavepad to edit music files recorded through my soundcard with Realplayer. The files play OK in Realplayer and Windows Media Player, but when I open them in Wavepad, there is a sudden loss of volume where the music is lower, as if the editor detects the end of the track and is automatically fading out. When there is a pause in the music, the sound completely drops out for a moment. I have tried recording directly with Wavepad, with the same result. Is there a way to avoid this or restore the file to the original form? This happens with any sound recorder I use. I emailed support for the sound card (integrated with PC Chips 825G motherboard). Reply is below. "You have automatic noise gating enabled on your sound card. This option goes via a variety of names including background noise reduction, feedback prevention and automatic level control. This gives extarcly the sort fo volume variations you describe, and needs to be disabled. You should find the relevant options in the advanced dialogue of the windows volume control." I was unable to find anything; I have also checked my soundcard settings. Can anyone help?
  2. I use WP to record radio from my stereo using the 'line in' jack. After recording for about 1 hr and 40 minutes, something strange happens. No matter where I select in the file after this point, the audio starts from the beginning of the recording, even though the cursor does not. What gives?
  3. I finally raised the 'line in' volume control in Windows while recording from an external source; I think raising the 'wave' volume works for recording from the Internet and any other source on the computer; this seems to have solved it. Thanks.
  4. Tried it; raises volume of whole track but volume is still uneven. I have also tried using gain control. I finally raised the 'line in' volume control in Windows; this seems to have solved it. Thanks.
