  1. Very similar situation/problem here! just some differences in system configuration: my primary HDD is not a SSD and I am running Win 7 (x64). Fortunately enough so far I didnt get any BSOD, but the frequent crashes to desktop and long time to load are annoying enogh. No driver update changed anything. No clear pattern regarding the situation/frequency of the crash. I really hope that we can get this sorted out, because other than that VP is a very nice piece of software.
  2. When I re-open a saved project I notice that the detail settings of effect filters tend to get lost. The sequence of the re-opened project plays just fine in preview, the filters alre applied as they should. But when I click on the yellow star symbol to edit the filter settings of a clip, I notice that all the filters are still there but their settings have been reset to default, I have to start from scratch. Anyone experienced something similar?
  3. technically I solved the problem - I installed a video converter and converted/saved the files with same format but correct resolution. Still it would be nicer if videopad was able to handle the file and I wouldnt need yet another pice of software to get the job done...
  4. Every now and then videopad crashes, mainly when placing new clips on the track. Not so nice, but usually not a big deal because I frequently hit ctrl-s and additionally videopad does an excellent job with the auto-save so basically no work is lost. However I have noticed that after such a crash sometimes the saved project can be loaded very fast and sometimes videopad re-reads all the clips from scratch which then takes 15-20 minutes (yes, it is quite a number of single clips, going to be a large project). Why is that? How does videopad cache the clips, is there any setting or choice to make sure he doesnt have to reload all of them from scratch?
  5. I just came across a strange problem: I have some clips that have been recorded using a sony alpha 77 cam. The file properties in windows explorer show that the video format is 1080x1440 (4:3) However when I play the clip with whatever player (quicktime, windows media player, VLC...), the video is actually 1080x1920 (16:9), and it is not merely stretched but really "native" full 1080x1920 (16:9) with full image information. When I load the clip into videopad, the little icon in the bin also shows the full width. however when using/playing, the clip is cropped on the left and right and that extra information is lost / I have to stretch it to avoid black borders on the left and right. It seems that the players just output "what is in the file" whereas videopad seems to rely on the file information which (wrongly?) says that the width is only 1440. Anybody has seen this before? Any Idea how I can convince windows or videopad or both that the file is actually 1920 in width?
  6. also unlinking doesnt make any difference. I unlink the sound (audio track 1) from the clip (video track 1), I ctrl-x them, I drag'n'drop the clip, where it fits in the audio track 2 will split and move backwards. I'm a bit annoyed about this behaviour. I wanted the clips and their transitions to fit well to the audio, but the only way to work is by adding the additional audio at the and of all clip arrangements or everything will be chopped and messed up.
  7. Thats also what I would have expected/hoped. In my case it doesnt do this on any clip, neither the first nor any other. Well, except maybe for the last one Known bug? Should I report this?
  8. Yes, tried this, no effect whatsoever. I have 3 clips A-B-C on video track 1 and a sound file on audio track 2. I drag and drop to rearrange the sequence to be A-C-B. Result: where C is inserted audio track 2 will be split and the second half shifted back so that it still matches with the former position on Clip B. Regardless of the "Lock Track" being activated or not on audio track 2...
  9. right clicking on a clip offers "ripple delete selected clip(s)" - what's the difference to just plain deleting it? can't see any...
  10. p.s.: I have found this topic in the forum that deals with a similar issue: http://nch.invisionz...drag#entry47381 however "creating a gap big enough" isnt really an option when you have 20+ clips on a timeline after that position and you have to start dragging all of them further to the end, one by one... or did I miss an easier way how to create a gap? this behavour isnt very helpful, It would at least be nicer to have options (e.g. per track - "do not auto-split" or by pressing a key whilst performing the drag'n'drop)
  11. when I rearrange the clips on a track by drag&drop, videopad eventually splits the things I have already added on other tracks (e.g. a second audio track with music). pressing 'alt' when doing the drag&drop is not a solution - this simply switches the operation from "insert" to "overwrite". Is there any way to avoid this behaviour? I want to rearrange the clips in a track without affecting the other tracks...
  12. yes, I've seen this guide, however it is rather a technical description of the paramters and not really helpful in terms of "so what should I do now?" I've played around a while but at the end gave up and resorted to a commercial software (mercalli) because it did a way better job on these files and is easier on the settings. thanks anyway.
  13. Just started to woork with videopad and really love ist. It is fascinating how slender and performant but yet fully functional this piece of software is. One of the few cases where I paid the full pro licence price gladly without hesitation One of the many reasons why I like it so much is the very well working deshake filter and the seamless integration of this plugin. But thats also where my questions start: To the developers of videopad: In the current download version of videopad, the deshake-plugin version is 2.4. The current version published by the author of deshake (http://www.guthspot.se/video/deshaker.htm) is 3.0 which has been improved a lot plus it is available as a 32 and 64 bit version. I tried to "update" by replacing the .vdf file that came along my videopad-installation, but that just didnt work. I assume that the integration of the vdf has changed in a way. When will there be an update on this filter? Any choice of 32 vs. 64 bit version? To the users of deshake: One of my intended uses of deshake is for underwater footage. It works fine as long as there is enough light and some solid ground in the picture, but apparently has no whatsoever clue when the only thing it gets to 'see' is a big fish (slowly) swimming through the blue water. It also has big problems when the footage has been taken under low light conditions (although the video might still look pretty smooth) or in turbid water so that there are no crisp structures. Anybody experienced similar problems? Any clue as to which set of parameters could still work under those circumstances? Any help greatly appreciated! Martin
