  1. Took almost a week but now they sent me a link for v3.14 Phew. My case is closed with that.
  2. No I already tried this. It tells me that the code is for an older version and I could upgrade (for money) to the newer version. The last exe setup I actually saved is from July last year. That wasn't even v3.10 and thus is missing some fixes I need. Appears v3.14 is the last version I can use with my code. I bought VP via Trialpay last year in July. edit: Via Google all legal websites only offer v3.24... only illegal ones still have 3.14 - but that would be only my last resort choice. I don't want to risk malware.
  3. But for that I need v3.14. So my question was, where to download? I see no older versions dl button anywhere.
  4. What are the limitations of the free version? I installed the current exe over my licensed VP 3.14 and have now an unlicensed 3.24 :s Argh I tried exporting to MP4 and it worked, so the file type limit must be out-dated. I can also use several layers (tried 4 and exported as mp4). Whatever, where do I get the 3.14 setup back? I want to keep it save until I may find something locked in the free versin that I need.
  5. You can still drag&drop a file from an explorer window into the timeline. At least it works for me in Win7. You can drop it in the library/bin too and then add it from there to your tl, or you add stuff via right click in the bin area. Check Help > Content for a start of the basics. There are more things that are completely different. Better follow the help file from beginning till the end or until you c.b.a. anymore ^^
  6. Then do a screenshot with your media player (like vlc, mpc, and the lot).

    Flip video

I don't want to use another tool. My question is whether it is doable with VP and whether there is is/was such a plugin.

    Flip video

Hello I googled whether VP can flip a video (vertically/horizontally - not rotate) and found this: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20120503195333AAvr79w But I didn't find any such plugin. I even googled for it. No success. I googled for VirtualDub flip plugins then, but since VD has such an option already inbuilt it seems no-one bothered to make a filter/plugin. Does anyone have this ominous plugin?
  9. Hello After my last posting about splitscreen I did further testing and trying and made a larger PiP video consisting of 6 4:3 Videos in one 4:3 video. The working by percentage for scaling and moving the videoclips was tedious at first. By pixel would be much easier and thus faster. That the preview didn't show the results precisely just meant more work- and waiting time for me to encode the video several times to confirm all the positions in the real video. Example video: Looks good in the encoded result. Wait till the end to see the preview window in VideoPad while editing. Larger gaps and wrong proportions (the white bar is actually 720 pixels wide; as the exported video; 960x720 [= 4:3 Half-HD]). Is that a general bug? Or meant to be? VP not up for 4:3 editing? Only 16:9? Regards, Llama
  10. It has access to all AVI compatible encoder. If you don't like your video outcome you need to change the encoder settings. As for H.264 in MP4, set the rate factor to 18 and try again.
  11. I usually load the GIF in VirtualDub und export it right away (Save as AVI).
  12. As far as I've seen VP uses the CRF method from the x264 encoder. The constant rate factor encoding method is quality based only. It is the best choice if image quality is more important than anything else. You set the level of image quality you want and the encoder will take the bitrate it needs to archive this quality. Not caring for any min/max limits. A value of 18 is already high quality. Common values are 22-26. CRF ist ideal for playback on pc and uploading anywhere where the video will get encoded again (like YT - for re-encoding choose a higher crf value, like 18-20). Not the best choice for hardware playback because this method can cause bitrate peaks the hardware encoder may not be able to handle. It depends on the source. Worth a try but there's no hardware-proof guarantee. Usually programs use a bitrate mode. Often in a variable mode, constant mode is rare. 1-pass for constant; 1-, 2-pass or more for variable. Most commercial programs only offer the bitrate mode, unfortunately. Bitrate encoding method is for meeting/not exceeding a certain file size and/or prevention of bitrate peaks (you normally set an average value and limit the max. bitrate). Hardware compatibility is more important than Image quality in this mode. Quality will be accomplished by raising the bitrate. The video usually has a higher average bitrate than a crf video of the same visual quality. I'd assume your source material was a high bitrate encoding and when using crf encoding the compression is better optimized and thus the smaller file size. If you want a higher file size increase the quality. If you want to encode by bitrate, switch to the AVI container and use the native MPEG4 encoder. Or any MPEG-4 Visual/ASP encoder you have installed (Xvid, DivX).
  13. That was the info I needed. Thank you. Before I didn't know why I should add an effect that's already there. And my video was just a demonstration. No need to be exact with the values. And I figured out that the effect order is important. Didn't see the effect window as particular order. But thinking about it makes sense then.
  14. The things were those that I already tried (am not unexperienced with video editing) but I don't get the results that you and Borate get But it's what I want. If I do as you say I get what I don't want:
  15. Hello I want to do a (horizontal) split screen with 2 videos, means I need top crop half of the video on top. But whenever I crop the top video it automatically moves to the middle of the screen and no way to move the cropped video up to where I want it. Help I need precise cropping and the video needs to stay where it is. No moving to the center. It's not a black border issue. Regards Llama
