  1. Generally speaking it's best to export with the same - or a close - version to the one that created the project. Haven't run into the transparency issue with snapshots, but rarely use 7.x as that series is dated. (Transparency is retained in latest releases.) Version 11.48 has no forward compatibility. If a project is saved in that or a later version, releases earlier than (approximately) 11.38 won't run it. Backward compatibility is fine as far back as 7.53 in my tests. Save in 11.38 and 11.48 or later can run it. It's possible that the same prohibition was instituted in early 7x days and just hasn't been encountered here. It's puzzling why how it works changed for you. See my personal message. No need to first delete "title text." Swipe (select) it and begin typing (or pasting) new text.
  2. Indeed strange. Use this free tool to uninstall. Have it scan the registry as well, and delete all files that it finds. Then install the latest VP release.
  3. Understandable that bugs uh, bug you. Because VP is enhanced with obvious (and under the hood) features regularly, glitches can creep in even though each release is beta tested. Fixes are implemented quickly when verified bugs are found. There's no mandate to update if what you use is working well. But within the six-month upgrade window there usually are several licensed versions available here. And more recent releases can be test driven, even if unlicensed, though not all features may be available. If you want to stay on top of the very latest, purchase a subscription. Other vendors have gone that route exclusively. If they do sell a non-expiring package, there's often a patch or two (maintenance releases) before a new version comes out a year down the line, for a price. When one considers it, their policy seems similar to the NCH six-month free update window.
  4. Drop back in if issues surface. For protection, Save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves. Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite. From the HOME tab, that choice is available by clicking the chevron to the right of the Save Project button on the toolbar.
  5. Thanks for sharing. The exported mp4 isn't needed. Your timeline should look something like this... Set the bottom-to-top scroll option in the text window. Track two (intro) will be seen until it ends, then track one will scroll through the music.
  6. Apparently, no one else ran across the issue recently. Here's a stable older release that doesn't freeze on reversals - as tested here - and splits correctly. Now that the split-screen problem is confirmed, it will be repaired soon. Users who report a bug usually receive an extended or free license. Stay tuned to this thread.
  7. You tacked onto a two-year old thread. The causes and suggestions there may not apply to your issue. What version is being used? Explain more precisely what you are attempting. If it's dragging clips, and they are snapping back, hold down <alt> while dragging. As for licenses, updates are free for six-months from purchase date. There's no mandate to update; if what you bought is working well stick with it - or with any release within the six-month period. Here's the download site. Newer releases can always be test driven and most features will be available for a trial period. Or use the free version, which has some limitations from the outset. If you make the effort to work with helpers here, problems can usually be fixed. Sometimes, they are caused by unfamiliarity, at others by hardware conflicts (not every PC in the world will run every program perfectly) and yes, by bugs. When a bug is confirmed it is quickly fixed. Submit your project files here and we'll run the project. The process is easy, quick and can be done privately. Just follow these steps... Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER. Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER. Upload --- Use a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* - to upload the saved, numbered FOLDER. Do NOT upload the individual VPJ or export file. Get link --- Get a public link. If using Google Drive click GET SHAREABLE LINK. If necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with the link can view" Share --- Click COPY LINK | DONE. Paste that link here, or click the folder at the top-right of this forum to message it privately to me. It won't be shared. * Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES. Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.
  8. Confirmed and being looked into. You have unearthed an obscure quirk. You might also report it here. Refer to this thread. This version should suffice in the interim.
  9. Check TM again. It should be there. Right-click on the entry and END TASK. Alternatively, reboot.
  10. Using 32-bit VP, your linked file was MPEG4 exported at Default Quality. Size: 965MB. Elapsed time: 10:58. Of course, your timing will be different. The stats: To my eye, quality is quite acceptable on a 24" monitor.
  11. If you have composed in the text editor and set it to scroll, the resulting clip will scroll start to end, no matter what the text clip length is. So, if the clip is the same length as the audio, as in the above demo, nothing should be cut off. Upload the project and someone will take a look. That's the best way to track this down. The process isn't difficult and takes but a few minutes. Just follow these steps carefully... Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. 12. And it may not only be THAT file, considering the limitations of a 32-bit system and your configuration. If you have access, try 64-bit VP on a 64-bit O/S. Do check out MPEG4 encoding. Reasonable file size and good quality here on your test file. Much faster than H265.
  13. A file created with the text editor defaults to three-seconds. On the timeline, drag its right border until it mates with the end of the audio. The longer the duration, the slower the scroll. Don't use a speed change. And example... Record_2022_05_12_09_44_19_914.mp4
  14. Your settings look normal. Perhaps there was a corrupted installation. Try this beta and report back. It's a test release, but looks stable.
  15. VP doesn't have garbage mattes, but you can suggest the feature. https://www.nch.com.au/suggestions/index.html?software=VideoPad You might get creative. For example, take these two images... The background is 16:9. The girl's green screen isn't that wide. If chromakeyed (green screen effect) the BG will fill only the green area. To remove the side-bar black 'garbage' areas and cause the background to fully appear, study these effects. Click the image to enlarge it. Two chromakeys, one for the green, the other for black. The girl shot has an outside mask applied to the green screen area.
  16. If this is the idea... Begin with your video on track 2 (shown as a brown background here). Add your circle visual on track 1. Create a circular mask followed by a 0 opacity transparency effect... Use the RADIUS slider to change circle size. Then overlay four individual tracks, each with different video (shown here as the same image). Use the MOTION effect to scale and position each quadrant. To make it easier to add the four quadrants, after the first is overlaid on track 3 and scaled/positioned, overlay the next video on track 4. Then right-click on that track and APPLY LAST USED VIDEO EFFECT. If will exactly overlay the first quadrant. In the preview window it can dragged to the position desired for the second quadrant. Do the same when overlaying tracks 5 and 6 (for quadrants 3 and 4). In lieu of dragging, move the sliders in the effects window. The images here can be made larger - click on them.
  17. Perhaps the use of a Physical Address Extension isn't playing nicely with VP? Repeated exports gave no hint of a crash on your test file here.
  18. Exported your test 47:00 file at 1080 Medium Quality H265. GPU average usage was 10%. That resulted in a bitrate of 162Kb. Video acceptable but not high quality. Took about an hour. A 12hr file seems out of reach for typical PC resources. Especially with H265 encoding at high res. If H265 is a must, consider breaking up the project. What are the specs of your current unit: CPU/GPU/RAM? Be sure that the video driver and Direct-X are current. https://www.nchsoftware.com/videopad/kb/1772.html Suggest MPEG4 encoding. Infinitely faster than H265. At 25000kbps GPU utilization was high and video good. File size: just 1.92GB, bitrate: 5.645 kb/s Run the 64-bit version of VP if possible.
  19. You can do that. It's good practice to load only the files used in the project. No sense having VP waste time and resources on those that won't be needed. An easy way to purge unused clips from the bins is to click one of them and press <ctrl-A> to select them all. Then check the Do The Same For All box and click the CANCEL button. Unused files should be gone. (If there's a warning that a clip is being used, then you have not followed the procedure correctly.) Now you can save the project, preferably with a unique # or name, and the next time it's loaded those files won't be accessed. And, of course, Clear Unused Cache Files can be run during editing.
  20. First caution, of course, Save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves. Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite. From the HOME tab, that choice is available by clicking the chevron to the right of the Save Project button on the toolbar. That's protection for your project. Saving a portable project is good too. It's wise to clear the cache prior to working on a new project or reloading one after another has been worked on, A clean start, though load time will increase to build the cache. But if you're resuming a single project, and no other has been loaded in the interim, then don't clear the cache between sessions. Videopad is non-destructive; it won't affect source files. Don't move them until you are certain that the project is complete.
  21. Glad it worked out. But explain a bit more ... what did sounds have to do with your ability to export?
  22. To analyze this issue, please share the project (not just the VPJ file). Here's how. It's easy and can be private. Just follow these steps carefully... Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. 23. What version is being used now? (Look at the bottom-left of the VP window.) What are the export settings? Try this just released version.
  24. That shouldn't be necessary. H264 (the default) works fine. After you install MPC-BE you may find that Windows Media Player can play those files, as it may use the codec that MPC-BE installed.
  25. Wndows Media Player should have no problem playing those files. A codec may be missing. Install this free player. Thereafter, even WMP may be able to handle the files.
