  1. The way to capture a still image in Videopad is with a right-click in the preview window: Take Snapshot (or clip or sequence, whichever is being displayed). The snap will be shown as a thumbnail in the VP bin (top-left of the window) and be saved to your PC's PICTURES folder.
  2. Check my initial reply and UNcheck the OPTIONS item mentioned. Cannot replicate the issue here. If you are experiencing it, please share your project per the above instructions so it can be analyzed. What version of VP is being used?
  3. Don't see that kind of delay here. Though the project is lengthy, please share it if possible... The process is easy, quick and can be done privately. Just follow these steps... Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER. Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER. Upload --- Use a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* - to upload the saved, numbered FOLDER. Do NOT upload the individual VPJ or export file. Get link --- Get a public link. If using Google Drive click GET SHAREABLE LINK. If necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with the link can view" Share --- Click COPY LINK | DONE. Paste that link here, or click the folder at the top-right of this forum to message it privately to me. It won't be shared. * Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES. Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.
  4. How long is the project? What version is being used? Here's the latest. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. Don't clear the cache if it's the same project. Reloading should be quick. To stop it from finding the peaks, try unchecking under the OPTIONS | Media tab.
  5. If you just want lines, create them as a separate layer in a graphics program that supports layers. Delete the image layer. Save as a PNG. Add this as the top track in Videopad. If the PNG isn't transparent, use the Green Screen effect in to remove its background. If you want something a bit more complex, first set DUAL DISPLAY under the FILE | VIEW menu. Begin with your background - a blank clip brown color gradient background here - and drag it up to track 6. Open the effects window and freehand draw a Polygon Mask in the upper left-hand corner. It's the small green + icon. Add the TRANSPARENCY effect with zero OPACITY and 75% (or so) feathering. When satisfied click the Clear Mask button on the effects toolbar, the one with the red X. (UNcheck the Show Mask box if necessary.) Add the picture to be inserted into the mask on track 5. Use the MOTION effect to position and size it in the mask area. Repeat the process in turn - drawing a mask for each corner and adding a positioned/sized insert on the next lower track. The final mask position will be center, a Circular Mask with TRANSPARENCY and zero OPACITY. The insert image will be added to track 1, positioned and sized.. Takes experimentation, but this can be done with persistence and patience. Here's an example where four corners and the center were created... Be sure to Save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves. Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite. From the HOME tab, that choice is available by clicking the chevron to the right of the Save Project button on the toolbar.
  6. That changed to a dark mode many releases ago and there's no option to revert to the former white background. The latest version is here. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info.
  7. You can have any video or image in the cutouts, whether static or changing. Unique shapes can be created by using the mask with transparency. Don't see a pic, so can't see the outline. To link an image, upload it to a free server like MS OneDrive or Google Drive and get a sharable link. Post that link here. If using Google be sure to make the link public, not restricted.
  8. New thread begun, as the original was very dated. If the clips are in the bin, select them all and right-click on any one. Choose Change Speed. Click the DURATION field and type the desired time. Then click SET twice. If the clips are on the sequence, select them all and right-click. Choose Change Duration and type the change in the blue DURATION box under the preview window.
  9. New topic begun here, as the thread you tacked onto was dated. What version of Videopad is being used? Please try the latest. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. If the issue persists, share your project. Someone will take a look and come up with a fix. The process is easy, quick and can be done privately. Just follow these steps... Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER. Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER. Paste that link here, or click the folder at the top-right of this forum to message it privately to me. It won't be shared. * Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES. Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.
  10. It's not a Videopad fault. Yet, at times the upload YT quota appears to be maxed out. Success here just now. Try it again at an 'off hour.' Various quality settings are available in VP as well as YT that should yield good results using their uploader. Report this to NCH, listing the hour that your attempt failed. https://www.nch.com.au/software/bug.html?software=VideoPad
  11. The best way to see what's new is to try the latest here. That's a 64-bit trial, if unlicensed. Some features may be disabled. A free version, with limitations, is here. Many 'under the hood' improvements won't be apparent without speed comparisons between new and your old versions. Some hardware won't take advantage of them. There are also new effects that vary from version to version. So play around with it. Retain your old licensing info and installer.
  12. Right-click on either the video or audio track of the clip and UNLINK it. Now do the speed change.
  13. Select (highlight) the first clip to the right of where you want to make the insert. Hold down the <shift> key and select the last clip on the sequence. Drag those clips to the right. Insert the new content. If there's a gap, right-click in it and CLOSE GAP. You can also select clips (even on different tracks), right-click on one and GROUP CLIPS. All will move in tandem. 14. Hard to know, especially with a dated operating system. You did not mention the VP version being used. If it's a recent release, go to OPTIONS | EDITING tab and in the Advanced section at the bottom choose NO (CPU only) and see if that helps. Under OPTIONS | DISK tab click Clear Unused Cache Files, then restart the program and load your project. Try a reinstall of your old version. Many legacy releases are available here Be sure that the disc partition used for caching has ample free space. Confirm that the video driver and Direct-X are as current as possible. https://www.nchsoftware.com/videopad/kb/1772.html
  15. Perhaps the simplest way to achieve this is to move the audio slider (at the left of the track) far left for track one and far right for track two. When playing, do the same ... to hear one language or the other.
  16. Does it do this while editing or when exporting? Does it do it for all projects, or just certain ones? What are the PC's specs: CPU/GPU/RAM? What version is being used? Try the latest. Try going to OPTIONS | EDITING tab and in the Advanced section choosing NO (CPU only). Please report if one of these measures fixes the issue.
  17. 11.45 had a regression that was quickly fixed. Install the current 11.55 release and you won't have that problem. Or install 11:48 or later. Split-screen effect, however, is not optimal but soon will be. It's okay in version 8.45, which is a stable earlier release.
  18. One way to go at it would be to place the entire show on the timeline. (If too cumbersome, break it up into several parts.) Then split out the segments, one by one, that to be used. Drag each up to the bin where they will appear sequentially numbered ... and vanish from the sequence. When all the desired segments are in the bin, clear the sequence. Or start a new one. Then drag each clip from the bin to the timeline in the desired order, to build the sequence for final export. Another approach is to load the full clip to the bin, then create SET IN and SET OUT points for each wanted segment. As you go along drop each to the timeline using the ADD/PLACE button.
  19. Try exporting in AVI format. Assuming that you did not purchase, install the free version, or the normal release. That will be a trial unless you license it. Save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves. Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite. From the HOME tab, that choice is available by clicking the chevron to the right of the Save Project button on the toolbar. That way the project is protected.
  20. So, with GPU off (CPU only) all seems normal?
  21. That setting chooses whether the GPU is used - or not. It's possible that your HW doesn't support the function. Please state the stats for your PC: Operating system, CPU, GPU, RAM, and upload a project that has failed. This may help the developers pin down an elusive issue with some video adapters. That's not to say it's YOUR issue, but keep us posted on status. What version is being used now?
  22. Certainly can be done. Study the above sticky post for many tips... https://nch.invisionzone.com/topic/31824-efficiently-build-a-stacked-collage-or-virtual-choir/#comment-84503 If you elect to use the SPLIT-SCREEN effect, first download and install this VP version, as the effect is not working optimally in later releases at this time. You should be licensed for that release if you purchased a more recent version.
  23. Not seeing that here nor has that issue been reported. Try another PC if available. Also go to OPTIONS | EDITING tab and in the Advance section at the bottom choose OFF (CPU only) to see if that has an effect. Older versions are available here. They should be licensed as you have recently purchased. Please take a few minutes to share a project that hangs so folks can analyze it.
  24. Spacing between lines may be the best solution. But here's another method you can try... Download this mp4 of your video scroll and replace the original with it on the timeline. Right-click on the clip and UNLINK, then delete its audio track. Now drag the music to the far left. Vid/aud tracks should now be the same length. To the left of the audio track, right-click and LOCK TRACK. When you want to change the speed of a section, use the SPLIT button to isolate that section - splitting the IN and the OUT points. Right-click in that split-out section and CHANGE SPEED. If speed is increased that will leave a video gap. Click in the gap and CLOSE GAP. After making various speed changes the video may not be the same length as the audio. Make up for that by splitting out the end section and adjusting speed, so the audio and video again match up.
  25. True, but not a big step. It does graphically display the current text settings, which can be helpful. Perhaps that's the rationale? File a suggestion... https://www.nch.com.au/suggestions/index.html?software=VideoPad
