  1. The issue has been corrected in the current 12.13 release. Give it a try.
  2. Chances are that there is an unwanted fragment of a clip or a gap between the two clips. If the content is on track 1, switch to Storyboard mode to easily spot it. Right-click and Close Gap or Delete if it's an unwanted clip. In Timeline mode, expand the sequence using the slider at the bottom-right, just above the Volume slider. Then the fragment or gap should become visible and can be removed.
  3. While there are triangles on many toolbar buttons, in recent releases this has been removed from Video Effects - likely as unnecessary Apparently the instructions you referenced were not updated. Consider filing a report. Refer to the page... https://www.nch.com.au/software/bug.html?software=VideoPad
  4. There are several ways to launch the video effects window. From the HOME tab, on the toolbar... Or click the FX icon in the clip, which may not display unless the timeline is expanded. Specific classes of effects can also be accessed via the Menu (upper-left)... After the timeline has been expanded, drag the cursor. The preview display should echo that movement. If PV is sluggish, install the 64-bit version. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. Record_2022_10_11_13_06_03_431.mp4
  5. Glad you solved it. Don't forget to Save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves. Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite. From the HOME tab, that choice is available by clicking the chevron to the right of the Save Project button on the toolbar. Then you're protected! And, for large, very hi-def content use the 64-bit version of Videopad.
  6. Not reported. What are the PC's specs: CPU/GPU/RAM? Use this VP version. Test whether disabling GPU helps. OPTIONS | EDITING tab. Under Advanced choose None (CPU only)... Confirm that the video card and Direct-X are current... AMD / ATI users: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx Intel users: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx nVidia users: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us Update DirectX: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/179113 If these measures don't help, please share your project for analysis. The process is easy, quick and can be done privately. Just follow these steps... Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER. Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER. Upload --- Use a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* - to upload the saved, numbered FOLDER. Do NOT upload the individual VPJ or export file. Get link --- Get a public link. If using Google Drive click GET SHAREABLE LINK. If necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with the link can view" Share --- Click COPY LINK | DONE. Paste that link here, or click the folder at the top-right of this forum to message it privately to me. It won't be shared. * Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES. Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.
  7. In recent Videopad versions clips are normalized when imported. However, this does not guarantee that they will all be at precisely the same. Confirm that this box is checked under OPTIONS | MEDIA tab... To 'normalize' is to adjust the volume so that the loudest peak is equal to (or a percentage of) the maximum signal that can be used in digital audio. Usually you normalize files to 100% as the last stage in production to make it the loudest possible without distortion. Another reason to normalize is to have multiple tracks sound equally loud, or to have equal average loudness. Individual clips can be adjusted via the AMPLIFY effect. And, though one would think that it won't affect an already normalized clip, applying the NORMALIZE effect may make a difference. Other alternatives are mentioned late in this thread while some earlier info is out of date... https://nch.invisionzone.com/topic/25640-normalizing-multiple-clips-to-each-other/
  8. What's the PC's hardware: CPU/GPU/RAM? Use the 64-bit version of Videopad. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. A two-minute 4K (30fps) clip took about thirty-seconds to fully cache here, using version 12.07. Share the clip and someone will check it out... Upload the file/s to a free server, such as Google Drive or MS OneDrive, get a shared (public) link, copy the link and paste it here or to me in a Private Message via the mail envelope in the top-right corner of this forum. When using Google Drive, if necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with link can view."
  9. Place video on track 1 On the toolbar, click BLANK CLIP, choose a color and click ADD BLANK Drag the blank to track two and extend it for the length of the sequence by dragging its right border Click the FX button on the blank clip and add the CROP effect ... drag the top handle downward, to create the mask Add a second BLUR effect to fuzz the edges of the blank clip Import the subtitles
  10. First thing, Save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves. Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite. From the HOME tab, that choice is available by clicking the chevron to the right of the Save Project button on the toolbar. The you're protected and can restore earlier saved by double-clicking the VPJ file. If all tracks are to be moved in concert, group them. On each track, select only the clips that are to be kept in sync. Then right-click on any of the selected clips and GROUP. Now, when an insert is made to one track, the same movement will be made to the other grouped tracks. In this example ALL clips on all tracks have been selected. (If the clips on tracks 1 and 2 that are to the left of the insert point were not to be moved, then they would not have been selected prior to grouping.) Group.mp4
  11. Perhaps someone here has that knowledge and will chime in. Check with your local electronics/phone retailer.
  12. In recent VP versions, here's something to try... Go to OPTIONS | EDITING tab and in the Advanced | Video Processor drop-down choose None (CPU only). Check back if that makes a difference. An I3 processor is okay for basic projects, but can be a pain for more extensive work. Search the Net for "PCs for video editing." It's resource intensive so hardware makes a big difference. Try the current Videopad 64-bit release. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. Share the project that has the problem, and someone here will check it out. Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.
  13. The audio amplify effect can do just so much, and expect extraneous noise if the recording is exceptionally poor. Your best bet is to make a good quality recording, of course. Articles like this may help... https://mynewmicrophone.com/how-to-connect-an-external-microphone-to-a-smartphone/
  14. Lay down the music at a constant, normal level. Then use the Ducker feature to dip it when there's speech on another track. OPTIONS | AUDIO. Adjustment takes experimentation. Right-click the music track and choose . http://help.nchsoftware.com/help/en/videopad/win/effect_autoducking.html Or manually split out the speech areas on the music track, then double-click the music track in those areas. The waveform will appear in the preview window. Plot a graph by dragging the blue line to create keyframes (represented by squares/dots). Here, music dips, stays steady for a time, then returns to normal level.
  15. Video editing is resource intensive, so higher-end hardware is recommended. Do a WEB search for "PCs for video editing." For lengthy, multi-track, complex projects use Videopad's 64-bit version. Large projects can be broken up into more manageable pieces, each exported, then those exports later assembled for final export. With large very high-def files, Proxy Editing can speed up rendering regardless of what editor is being used because smaller files are imported and worked with during the session. Click the link for a explanation. In general, the fewer tracks the better. Embedding sequences in the main sequence should not cause the problems you describe in #4 above, but we'd have to see the project to analyze what's going on. An intro or outro can be an embedded sequence. For tips on dipping music under speech, see your other post.
  16. What are the PC's specs: CPU/GPU/RAM? Upload a project that has the issue and share it here or in private.

  19. For a true 'reveal' yours is a decent approach. A variation would be to split the overlay near where the reveal is to be, add a zero transparency effect prior to the split, then program the transition. reveal.mp4
  20. If this is what you have in mind, click the FADE icon at the head of the overlaid clip, and at the end if desired.
Heinz Erich

  25. Will any program run precisely the same on every PC? Not likely. Hardware may be the crux, considering its infinite permutations. 64-bit 12.07 export here on an I7 with a GTX1060 card. 12 active processors, default h264 settings, Stats.mp4
