  1. It's unknown why that succeeds on the few systems that require it. Have never run across the issue here. The files are in... "C:\Users\<PC name>\AppData\Roaming\NCH Software\Components" and "C:\Program Files (x86)\NCH Software\Components" (or the same path without the x86) You might try first closing VP, and deleting all files in those folders. Then reinstall VP. As an aside, MS Quick Assist worked for years w/o administrator authorization. Now, after a mandated upgrade, it needs it.
  2. Thanks for sharing. Loaded fully within seconds here in version 12.28 (64-bit). Did you install the release linked above? If so, and there was no change, right-click the Videopad executable and RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR. Then load the project. Did that help?
  3. That's not a start-up command. It's for cache deletion. VP has never self-started here. If the program is open when Windows hibernates, or perhaps sleeps, it will be restored when restarting Windows.
  4. See latest post, below. There's no provision to start VP with Windows. But click <alt-ctrl-esc> and then the Startup Apps tab to see if it's listed. It shouldn't be. Did you close the program before the last shut down, sleep or hibernate cycle? However, Videopad should show up as an item in the Control Panel | Programs and Features list. In Win 11, type "add or remove programs" into the search bar.
  5. How large is the file? Install this release and see if that helps. If it doesn't please share the project. It's easy and can be private. Follow these steps... Share your project. Someone will take a look and come up with a fix. The process is easy, quick and can be done privately. Just follow these steps... Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER. Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER. Upload --- Use a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* - to upload the saved, numbered FOLDER. Do NOT upload the individual VPJ or export file. Get link --- Get a public link. If using Google Drive click GET SHAREABLE LINK. If necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with the link can view" Share --- Click COPY LINK | DONE. Paste that link here, or click the folder at the top-right of this forum to message it privately to me. It won't be shared. * Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES. Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.
  6. Thanks for sharing your project. There may be some issues, which have been reported. Loaded your project, cut it down to about a minute, deleted all subs and closed the program. Then it was restarted, and under OPTIONS | DISK tab, Clear Unused Cache Files was clicked. Restarted again, just to make certain that nothing of your cap files remained. Loaded one-minute of caps from another project's SSA. Clicked APPLY TO SELECTED and switched to the Text tab. Selected a line. Switched back to the Format tab to change positioning. Text tab again to select a different line. Returned to Format tab and altered size and position settings, including offsets. And so forth... When done, clicked APPLY. Seemed to work. Preview and sub editor screen positions matched for each entry. It's tricky so review results often. If mistakes creep in, hit <ctrl-Z> to backtrack step-by-step. At this juncture, seemingly the only way to accurately save the subs is to save the project. When it's restored, alignments and sizes appear to be retained. Save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves. Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite. From the HOME tab, that choice is available by clicking the chevron to the right of the Save Project button on the toolbar. Considering that SSA files do not save font size or shadow info, using that format to restore captions that contain various alignments looks to be problematic.
  7. Using version 12.28(64), three MTS files were butted together here and exported at 720 mp4 default settings without problems. Please share the project here or in private, and someone will check it out. Takes but minutes. Just follow these steps closely... Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left. Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER. Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER. 8. Be aware that SSA files do not save font size or shadow info. That's determined by the player. Other settings seem to be retained. But if a project containing subs is saved, there should be no change when the project is reloaded. Please share your SSA file here, or in private, and someone will check it out... Upload the file to a free server, such as Google Drive or MS OneDrive, get a shared (public) link, copy the link and paste it here or to me in a Private Message via the mail envelope in the top-right corner of this forum. When using Google Drive, if necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with link can view." Or, better still, share the project with the subs as they SHOULD be seen. This, too, can be done privately. 9. Share a file, and someone will take a look. Here's how... Upload the file/s to a free server, such as Google Drive or MS OneDrive, get a shared (public) link, copy the link and paste it here or to me in a Private Message via the mail envelope in the top-right corner of this forum. When using Google Drive, if necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with link can view."
  10. ZOOM instead. Original... Zoomed... This was not a 16:9 image to begin with, so that's why there are black bars at the sides. The SCALE and POSITION effects could be used to fill the frame...
  11. What version of VP is being used? Install the latest. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. If that's still the case, then something is wrong. Share the project so it can be analyzed. It easy and can be done privately. Just follow these steps... 12. The ducker works quite well. Look under the Audio tab in OPTIONS and experiment with the settings. To disable it, right click the audio tracks and UNcheck BACKGROUND SOUND.
  13. Log out of YT and log back in. It should prompt. Does here. The alternative is to export as a video file, in a YT-approved format. Then use their interface to upload the file to the desired channel.
  14. Using the current release, there's no difference here in size or sharpness between a still and the HD snapshot taken of that still. This video switches from the still to the snap at about the one-second mark... Untitled.mp4 Post specifics on your settings, and perhaps a demo of the result. 15. It's not yet implemented though the speed change dialog is available via the effects window. File a suggestion... https://www.nch.com.au/suggestions/index.html?software=VideoPad
  16. A simple CROP, then export at 16:9 (1080). When a 16:9 is to become 4:3, something has to give in order to fill the screen without aspect ratio distortion. In this case, the crop was made to the width of the car, as that looked reasonably square, but it could have been cropped to any width. Untitled.mp4
  17. Solo (one man) previews only the solo track/s. The other tracks are dimmed on the timeline. With three men all tracks are displayed. Rarely, the reverse happens for reasons unknown. Clear Unused Cache Files, under OPTIONS | DISK tab and reload the project. Record_2022_11_22_09_18_35_472.mp4
  18. There may be a way, but don't see how to get a large square unless the video is first cropped and, if necessary, positioned.

  20. What VP version? Not seeing that in the latest here. For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date. After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee will be required in order to register the newest. Retain your old install file and registration info. Two sequences were created, then the #2 sequence in the bin (top-left) was imported into the middle of #1. Worked as it should.
  21. Not certain what you're asking. But when editing, before dropping a clip to the timeline, set the aspect ratio. Right-click the bin clip, Change Clip Aspect Ratio and make your choice... Then drop the clip onto the timeline and compose text to fit. For example, here's a letterbox 4:5 A/R with a text line, which can be positioned anywhere in the frame.
  22. Can't say, and no longer have your source material on hand. The first example in the Sept. 1 post was 16:9. The second was 1080x1080, square.
  25. You are correct - it's <shift>. Holding down <ctrl> is for individual selection of multiple clips. This is standard Windows stuff and will work for all apps.
