  1. Can't picture precisely what you are describing, but as set up below (using the Fade In Right transition) it should give the pictured result.

If the problem persists, please follow these steps to share your project.  Someone will check it out and come up with a fix...

    •     Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left.  Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER.  Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER.
    •     Upload ---  Use a free server - Google Drive, MS OneDrive, etc.* - to upload the saved, numbered FOLDER.    Do NOT upload the individual VPJ or export file.
    •     Get link --- Get a public link.  Right-click the file and click SHARE. When using Google Drive, if necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with the link can view"
    •     Share ---     Click COPY LINK | DONE.  Paste that link here, or click the folder at the top-right of this forum to message it privately to me.  It won't be shared.

              *    Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES.  Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.

  2. Certainly shouldn't be the case.  Install this release.  Earlier versions can be over-installed easily.  They are all here.  If you revert, try version 13.09.

For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date.  After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee is required in order to register the newest.  Retain your old install file and registration info.

If problems persist, please share a project.  Someone will take a look and come up with a fix.  The process is easy, quick and can be done privately.  Just follow these steps...

  3. Likely a setting.  Never have seen anything like that reported here.

Share a project or file that does this and someone will take a look.  It's easy, can be private, and takes only a few minutes.  Follow this procedure...

  4. Sorry, wrong.  VP doesn't have that functionality.  But you can suggest it...  https://www.nch.com.au/suggestions/index.html?software=VideoPad

That said, right-click the audio clip and Edit With Wavepad (when available).  WP displays the file.  Click Stereo at the bottom of the window and convert to mono.

Exit WP with the X at the top-right.  The file will be placed on the VP timeline.  You can then unlink (if necessary), delete the original and slip the video into place.

To return to stereo, find the mono file in the PC's MUSIC folder and use Wavepad to make it stereo.  Then import into VP.

Here's the free version of Wavepad, which may or may not provide the conversion feature.  Check it out.

  5. The last sequence cannot be deleted.  Create a sequence 2 and you will be able to remove sequence 1.

Save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves.  Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite.  From the HOME tab, that choice is available by clicking the caret to the right of the Save Project button on the toolbar.

  6. What are your export settings?  Go to OPTIONS | DISK tab and Clear Unused Cache Files.

Close Videopad, then right-click on the launch file and Run As Administrator.

You may not have this release.  Install it.

Haven't seen that reported here.  Share.  Here's the best way to track down problems.

Please upload your project.  The process is easy, quick and can be done privately.  Just follow these steps...

    •     Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left.  Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER.  Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER.

              *    Before uploading, right-click the folder, click PROPERTIES.  Look at the File Size to confirm that it's not too big for the free space on the server.

  7. Just click the envelope at the top-right of this forum and message me personally.  No one else will see your work.

Be sure that your project isn't too big for the free space on the server.  If you use Google Drive, change "restricted" to "anyone with link access can view."

Do not simply upload the VPJ file.  Please follow the above steps.

  8. Perhaps that design is intended to prevent an inadvertent SAVE that overwrites the original file, which can easily occur.

Before editing, copy all files to the MUSIC folder.  Then you're protected, and SAVES or SAVE AS will be written to that 'source' folder.

  9. What version of Videopad is being used?  Look at the bottom-left corner of the window.  Update to the latest.  For licensed users upgrades are free for up to six months from purchase date.  After that, VP will continue to fully function but a fee is required in order to register the newest.  Retain your old install file and registration info.  If there's an issue, you can always revert.

If still no joy, let's take a look.  Someone will solve the problem, which can be caused by editing errors.

Share your project.  The process is easy, quick and can be done privately.  Just follow these steps...

    •     Back up --- With your project on the timeline, click on MENU at the top-left.  Click FILE|BACK UP PROJECT FILES TO FOLDER.  Choose a folder and SELECT FOLDER.

  10. When you get to this screen, click the caret to the right of "image file" and choose the optical disk burner...

    image.pngClick to enlarge

An ISO file can be played on Windows PCs.  It's seen as a drive letter, and can be opened in a viewer.  MPC-BE is a good choice.

If the file system of the ISO is examined, you will see VOB files.  They contain the video.  Double-clicking on a VOB should bring up a player.

The ISO can also be used to burn a DVD - with software like Express Burn.

  11. Tough to say without seeing the file.  Share it.

Upload the file/s to a free server, such as Google Drive or MS OneDrive, right-click the link and Share.  Copy the result and paste it here or to me in a Private Message via the mail envelope in the top-right corner of this forum.  When using Google Drive, if necessary change "restricted" to "anyone with link can view.

What version of Videopad is being used?

  12. You put in lots of work into that project.  It takes time to fully cache.  Be patient.  Proxy editing, a common practice, is worth a study...

    See... https://nch.invisionzone.com/topic/26563-proxy-editing/

There's no need for 4K on files 1550 and 1556.  Suggest that the finals of those be reduced to HD.  My guess is that the 1550 is causing the most issues.  When replaced with a downconverted HD mp4 things went much better.

    There are some editing errors...

    Flash frame/s at approximately 14:505
    Black gap at 1:23.135
4:03.662, a very short clip, possible error
    Gap at 4:19.811
Gap at 1:45.127   And a few others in the way effects were ordered.

If the reverse at about 16:00 freezes, pre-produce the reverse.  Then drop in the new clip in normal mode.  Add the efx.

Using Pan & Zoom and Zoom or duplicate effects within the same clip may cause problems.  As an alternative of pan and zoom, try instead animating the Zoom effect.  The fonts need to be smaller to fit the screen.  Also, use as few tracks as possible.  Some small clips can be placed on existing tracks where there's a gap.

VP is non-destructive:  changes made in Videopad won't affect the original files.

Check your PM for the revised project that incorporates the above changes and the HD export.  (The result may not precisely match your efx but you can tweak.)

Use the 64-bit version of the program...  https://www.nchsoftware.com/download/videopadsetup64.exe

  13. Share your project.  Someone will take a look and come up with a fix.  The process is easy, quick and can be done privately.  Just follow these steps...

  14. You can also try downloading and installing the latest 32-bit release https://www.nchsoftware.com/videopad/vppsetup.exe.

Crashing can be due to issues with the video adapter.  Go to the Intel site and download/install the latest driver.

Another thing to try...  go to OPTIONS | ADVANCED tab and at the bottom GPU area click the caret to the right of the word "default."  Change the default to None (CPU Only)image.png Click to enlarge.

If you back up your project nothing will be lost.  Save Project File AS routinely, giving it a unique # or name, so as not to overwrite prior saves.  Using Save Project Files (no AS) will overwrite.  From the HOME tab, that choice is available by clicking the caret to the right of the Save Project button on the toolbar.

The VPJ is an instruction file that tells the program what to do.  Uninstalling (which isn't necessary) and over-installing another release won't affect the VPJ or any files.

When a project is shared, per the above instructions, it contains the VPJ and all source files.  Uploading only the VPJ is of no help.

If your project is large - say more than 5G - first save it, then delete some sections, leaving only a smaller portion that demonstrates the issue.  Upload and share that.  Be sure that the server has enough free space to accept the upload.  Sharing lets others try to replicate the problem, and then give you hints on how to fix it.

  15. Please list your PC's specs:  CPU/GPU/available RAM.

Close Videopad.  Then, before reloading the project, restart it and go to OPTIONS | DISK tab and Clear Unused Cache Files.  Then load the content.

If you take a few minutes to share the project someone will check it out.  That's the best way to solve issues.  Follow these steps closely...

  16. Well, VP never forces a 'buy' but they do encourage.

Tested a half-dozen versions, all the way back to 8.45 and none output a transparent BG in the mp4 container.  Also tested several encoders.

For more info see "mp4 transparency."

The .apng video files that VP exports are transparent.  That they don't work with some other apps may be a limitation/configuration of those apps.

What version were you running when the transparent mp4 was successful?

  17. You uploaded just the VPJ file, which is of no use.  Please follow the procedure above ... the VPJ and all source files will be part of the folder to be uploaded.

The .apng is indeed transparent when loaded into Videopad, assuming that's how you plan to use it.   It also opens in MPC-BE, with a black background.

You mentioned that this once succeeded.  Where?  In Videopad?  If yours is a still image, just 'grab' it with a right-click on the preview window.

Here's an .apng video for testing.  Download it and give it a try.  You should see that it works fine as an overlay in Videopad.
