  1. Hello,

Please note that Express Scribe does support audio playback of video files, but does not give you actual video; just audio. This is supported only in the Professional edition so the first thing to do is make sure you are using a licensed version of Express Scribe and not the Free version.

  2. Hello,

Please note that this is a "User Community Forum", as stated above this forum is designed to be self-help and relies on the user community to answer posts. Also linked above is the NCH Software Support channel where you may put in your support queries directly if you do not find the help you need here.

  3. Hello,

When you initially plug in the foot pedals, are you running through the "Controller Setup Wizard", located under Preferences in the Express Scribe application? Below is a link to setting up the AltoEdge Pedal with the Free version of Express Scribe, the same steps apply to the Pro version and the Infinity pedal. You can skip the first part having already installed and registered Express Scribe on your Mac:

  4. Hello,

Please note that Olympus changed the way they support 3rd party programs/apps and that while you can use the new DR microphones with Express Dictate, they are not directly configurable within Express Dictate. You will need to use the included Olympus Configuration Utility that came with your Olympus device to utilize the hot-key functions of Express Dictate.

You can find detailed setup instructions here: http://www.nch.com.au/express/kb/1634.html

  5. Hello,

I would recommend removing the driver and installing the Win7 Driver linked on the following page: http://www.altoedge.com/video/ae-video-bundle.html

The AltoEdge device is the same EZ cap device and I have found that no audio/video either meant that the right driver was not installed or the device was faulty. I have also found that poor quality audio and video was often a result of low quality USB cable and/or Audio/Video cables used. Some customers reported using a better quality set of gold plated RCA cables fixed their issue right away while others found the included USB cable to be faulty or of poor quality and replacing it solved their issue.

I hope this helps gets you moving forward.

  6. Hello,

If you click on Options the very first tab should be labeled "Playback", on this tab is a drop down menu for you to choose which audio device to use in Express Scribe; your USB headset should be one of the choices if plugged in.

  7. Hello,

Some important notes that may help explain issues. In May of 2012 the foot pedal support for the Free version of Express Scribe changed. As of May 2012 version release, only the AltoEdge USB foot pedal is compatible for use with the Free version. The Pro version will still work with any USB foot controller brand.

This means if you were using an older version, and an Infinity foot pedal (the most common case), chose to upgrade to a newer version and installed the trial, you were then using the most current Pro version, until that trial expired. When that trial expired you likely chose to use the Free version, however now you are using the most current version of the software, where the Free version is only compatible with the AltoEdge pedal and not the Infinity.

Back when you first installed Express Scribe you downloaded an installer and were likely prompted to save this. The simplest fix is to completely uninstall the current installation of Express Scribe and re-install the version you originally downloaded.

  8. Hello,

When you move the files around, they are likely put in alpha/numeric order based on the file name. I would try renaming the files in a way to ensure they play in the order you want, such as 1 - title, 2 - title, etc.

  9. Hello,

The product page itself states: "Use sound effects from the free Sound Effect Library". I believe this is the same library as that found in MixPad, and the MixPad product page clearly states: "Includes a royalty-free sound effect and music library with hundreds of clips to use in your productions".

  10. Hello,

When you installed and registered Zulu you were prompted to back-up/save the installer. That along with the registration code you received after licensing the software is all you need to re-install on your new system. if you cannot locate either you will need to contact NCH Support to retrieve it.

  11. Hello,

    I would start here: http://www.nch.com.au/pbx/support.html

This is just a user community forum and it sounds like you need more actual support, therefore start with that link and work your way down the list. If your answers are not found there then submit a ticket to the actual NCH Support team and someone will reply to your ticket in a timely fashion. NCH Support is not a pay only service, however should you choose to pay for support your ticket is put in the priority que rather than being taken in the order it was received.

  12. Hello,

To the best of my knowledge Pedalware is only compatible with USB foot pedals such as those linked on the product page itself (http://www.altoedge.com/pedalware/index.html) and is not a currently active project that will be updated.

Pedalware is a free utility offered to allow people to utilize a USB foot pedal with programs that do not by default have built in pedal functionality, such as Windows Media Player or VLC Media Player or Winamp. While these commonly used media players do not have the ability to see and utilize a foot pedal, you can configure playback options to work with hotkeys, and then use Pedalware to assign the hotkey strokes to a pedal button.

  13. Hello,

Please note that this is a user community forum and not a support forum. For actual support needs you should be directing them via the support request form on the NCH website and should not be basing the quality of your NCH support experience on the responses, or lack thereof, here on this forum. i beileve you will find support for purchaed product, via the proper channel, to be very helpful and responsive to your needs; whether you paid for support not as they do answer all tickets.

    Regards,
